Avoid
This hotel, on the face of it, looks nice, but the franchisee, Metro, seems to know the cost of everything and the value of absolutely nothing. When I arrived, I found my room had one towel, one bar of soap and generally the word that comes to mind is stingy. This mentality of trying to rinse the guest for as much money as possible is also evident in that they charge you for your stay when you arrive, as opposed to the more common practice of taking your credit card details when you arrive, then charging you upon checkout. I had asked for additional towels and soap to be delivered, it took 3 requests for this to finally occur. Secondly, the hotel tried to charge me COP 10,000 for a toothbrush as well as snacks which were meant to be free (I have Diamond status with Hilton honors, which was not acknowledged at check in on either stay), and proceeded to charge my card for this, along with the stay, without indicating that they would not be complimentary. Having raised a complaint with Hilton corporate, I received an email back from the general manager of the property offering me a free night--but only valid for the next six months, which given that the likelihood of my being back in Bucaramanga within that timeframe is nonexistent (I was there for work, and I live in New York), this gesture is worthless, and adding a six-month caveat reinforces the general robotic and impersonal feeling of the entire place. It is evident that the franchisee cares only about making as much money as possible and gives no thought whatsoever to the value of anything--just how much each thing costs.
Clean Room. Bad Food. No One Spoke English
The hotel describes it as being a bilingual property, however know one spoke a word of English. The rooms were very clean but had next to nothing in them. One towel. One cup for drinking coffee etc. The hotel has stopped the breakfast buffet and switched to a made to order, however this trick has resulted in a 70% menu reduction. The food was horrible. Truly disappointed with this chain. Hotel behaviour during challenging times is the best reflection of their foundational values. I will not only not visit this property, I would exclude this banner from all my other travels too.
Excellent Hotel!
Ha! This is not your usual Hampton Inn Hotel. Much nicer than all other Hampton Inn hotels and in the best area of Bucaramanga. Much better than the 5 star Dann Carlton hotel for half the price. I thank all of the staff at this Hampton Inn hotel.
Fair
Clean, well located and affordable. Having parking lot would help especially because this is a hotel for business profile or short trip which might require guests to drive or rent cars. Having more options for food outside breakfast would be great
