Shocked at Customer Service and Tiny Room

When I first entered the hotel I approached the desk and was looking forward to a city break I'd been saving up for for a whie. A 4 Star Hotel was a treat for me and after travelling for the past week I was excited for some TLC. The woman who greeted me looked at me as if I was a piece of dirt and I, being the first one to make a greeting, let her know I have a reservation Rudely and grumpily she took my details. I mentioned I had another adult in tow and would he be able to join the stay as it was a double room and only booked for one person. 'No.' was her sudden reply. But then she realised what I'd said and changed her mind - it was awkward and weird. She told me they usually pay upfront, I asked if I could put my heavy bag down in my room and sort through for my wallet first - she said No, we usually do it straight away.' It was as if they had no trust in their guests whatsoever. So i started sorting through my luggage in the lobby floor as I wasn't allowed to see my room until I'd paid. I asked if we could split the bill 50/50 - you guessed it 'No, we don't do that.' in a surly tone. For £70 a night I was shocked when I entered the hotel room. It is so small. So small in fact that you can't even open the wardrobe door half way because it bumps into the bed. They obviously don't appreciate or trust their guests as even the coat hangers are locked in place in the wardrobe so that they can't be removed - I mean seriously? I received one small towel for the two night stay which just isn't enough and knowing they have an extra guest checking in I would expect them to provide more towels - but no this wasn't possible. It might sound petty - and it is - but even the art work in the room was hanging off the wall and wonky - felt like a child had tried to set up the room. There is also no proper chairs in the room. There is two stools and a playmobil sized chaisse lounge - it's ridiculous for the price I'm paying. After paying upfront I honestly don't know what to do - the service is appaulling and I am afraid to go downstairs and discuss my concerns because I feel I will be so rudely spoken to. I've received way better in hostels.
So happy we found this place!

We booked a last minute trip to Budapest and managed to stumble across this gem of a hotel. Very stylish and modern, fantastic location and beautiful synagogue views from the room. We really couldn’t believe a room was still available for such a reasonable price. Breakfast is good, quite traditional, but something for everyone! Would definitely recommend staying here!

Great hotel, central location with easy access to major public transport links. Very clean rooms, good daily room-maid service. Hotel has 24 hr lounge available to all guests, where you have access to hot drinks, juice, milk and snacks. A huge benefit when on a busy sight-seeing break. Receptionists available all the time, very friendly and helpful. Thank you. We’re very glad to have stayed and would highly recommend to friends. Thank you all.

Sorry but this is one of the worst Hotels in this level I have ever stayed in Budapest . I travel a lot all over Europe and specifically to Budapest. As my flight was arriving in the morning before check inn - I wrote to the hotel asking for early arrival if possible - Of course it didn’t happen. The young lady at the reception was rude and not polite, she was very stressed due to many people at long area that is very small and not inviting enough. She took our language to storage room with out receipt or registration. The room that we have been given is the smallest and inconvenient room I have ever been - no place to put anything, small small mini bar - not for more than 2 small drinks… You can’t even move around the bed - not suitable even as a single room - it was really really disappointing. Breakfast is in an underground basement - air conditioning want not working, very crowded in Covid times, selection and quality of food was very very pure to say the list. Nothing in breakfast was tastefull… All carpets on dining area need to be cleaned and replaced ASAP. I must say that I usually write good reviews with personal input to upgrade my freinds and followers stay but guys - choose different hotel for your travel .

The hotel is a short walk from the city center. The room and bathroom were neat and clean. Breakfast was great. The good thing is that on arrival you have free things in the minibar and that coffee, juices and some snacks are available all day. We also had dinner included, which was exceptional. Kudos to the chef and the extremely friendly staff, thank you for everything. :) We definitely recommend this hotel.
