Dolmen Hotel

On the main avenue, night next to the Opera House and the Pyramid - public transport is 1 minute walk from the hotel. Rooms are big, very clean and comfortable - the quality of the bed guarantees you a good night sleep after a long flight or day in the city. The breakfast buffet is big and caters for every taste. VERY friendly people at the check-in !

My wife and I stayed here during a 4 day trip to Buenos Aires. We were dramatically disappointed by everything except the staff. Here are our primary issues. 1. The “gym”: The photos looked like this hotel had a small but adequate fitness center. The booking site never specified that the gym (and pool) is only open from 11:00am - 7:00pm. This makes zero sense for guest who workout in the morning. The worst part about the gym was how run down, non-maintained, and lacking I’m the equipment was (see pictures). There were sweat stains on the treadmills and bikes that were cleaned from the first day we arrived to four days later. There are holes in the roof above the gym so water pools inside. The machines are from the 80’s and are covered in rust and stains. 2. The pool: While it was similar to the photos, overall it was much smaller than you’d expect. Comfortably 2-3 people can fit inside. Which means if a family is already inside, you’re out of luck. As mentioned above, the hours suck. 3. The hot tub: This thing looked like something out of a horror film. It was drained of water, filthy dirty, in an awkward spot in the room, and not labeled when it would be fixed. Again, the hours sucked. 4. Wall outlets: the wall outlets were all awkwardly gapped and out wall chargers would fall out. This happens when old outlets aren’t able to apply pressure to the male end. Regardless, one more annoyance. The only thing redeeming about this place was the hard working staff. I still can not recommend this location at all.

I was travelling with my baby. And we had to store his food. The hotel staff has offered us the freezer and they installed a microwave on our room. It was wonderful. The breakfast is great and a very good localization. The room is very big and clean.

This hotel is in fantastic location in the middle of the downtown area, with lots of other hotels on the street, restaurants, shops and within walking distance to mayor attractions. Very quick check in poses. The front desk and bellmen very friendly and pleasant. We got to our room, a very outdated and old looking one. First thing we encounter after flying overnight, the air conditioner did not work. I have do called the front desk, and wait for the maintenance staff, 30 minutes in our room working to fix the problem. Instead of moving us we had to wait. I asked for the cost of an upgrade, 60 dollars per night, that was too much for 7 nights. Breakfast in the morning was adequate, with lots of sweet items if you are into those foods in the morning you will love it. Staff was also very pleasant. I asked for an iron and ironing board, was told they don't have any available. Pressing was available for the equivalent of 6 dollars each item, I pay 2.50 dollars back home for shirts. A 4-star hotel does not have ironing boards,very disappointing. One day after getting back form been our all day, we encounter a bed pillowcase with blood stains and a towel in the bathroom with the same issue. Took pictures on my phone showed them at the front desk agent; she said nothing back to me. I asked for the room redone while out to dinner. Again no apologies. On Friday after been out all day, we sat in the room for a glass of wine. The lights went out in our room, seems it was an electrical problem in the fuse box. Staff was not able to fix the problem. We had to move to another room, and ones again in an old room, again no apologies from anyone. The pool area is very old and unkempt, with dead plants around, the outside pool was dirty, nobody was there. Second pool under the atrium was fine. The pictures on hotel website, are from a long time ago or well staged. The area does not like what is on the site. This hotel cold be a great with some upgrades and better customer service.

I stayed here two nights. Easy check in and at a good price. Within walking distance of Florida Street, the main harbour and St Martin Park. Room was quiet and clean. It met my expectations in all aspects. Would comfortably be able to recommend.
