More about the hotel
Well located, safe
This hotel is located in a pedestrian-only street in a business sector. They offer very good service, and is well maintained. The room was quite small for couple. Had a full-sized bed instead of a queen or king sized bed. The bathroom tub is high. You need to be careful not to trip in or out of it. The window faced the hallway, so We had to keep it closed. The hotel is located in a business district, not a touristy area. The street shuts down and gets quite dark at night. There are aggressive beggars at night. A security guard is posted in the street entrance for escorting you to and from the taxi. The included breakfast buffet is very good and has both hot and cold items. Galerías Pacifico, an upscale downtown mall with many eateries is located two blocks away. The street has many restaurants and stores.
Excellent Value and Location
The Howard Johnson on Florida Avenue in Buenos Aires is in an excellent location. Florida Avenue is a nice pedestrian shopping street but the hotel is easily accessible from a few meters away at Plaza General San Martin. It is in the Retiro neighborhood, near several of the excellent attractions of Buenos Aires. Our room was quite nice, really spacious, and the breakfast was delicious. You enter down a short hall lined with a couple of shops. There is an elevator to the lobby one floor up and there is also an apparently non-working escalator. The economy in Argentina has been doing poorly and there are always touts outside the front entrance offering to exchange money all the time.
Perfect spot for us for our overnight stay
Recently flew in to EZE airport with a connection the following morning from AEP airport. EZE to HJ was about a 40 ride and cab cost $27 if we used USA cash( we did). The hotel is about a 50m walk from the drop off point. The door guy met us and escorted us to the reception. We met with a very pleasant English speaking man who got us squared away right away. We were very grateful we were able to check right in. Our room was fine. Nice towels, beds, pillows - AC worked well. Absolutely no complaints at all. We were the first to breakfast the next morning. The hot items were scrambled eggs and something else( a meat I think - cannot really remember). There was a fruit salad and cereal, pastries - kind of the normal thing we seemed to find while in Argentina. It is along a street with plenty of places to do some shopping. There was also a kind of bazaar market about 150m on the right as you go down the street. You would have to walk in to actually see it. We found lots of small souvenirs to take back to family and friends. We found a small cafe to eat as well very nearby. We let the reception man know we would need a can in the morning. He made the arrangements. We paid him $12 for the 20 cab ride to the AEP airport before we took it. All in all - we would definitely stay here again.
Consistently good
We stayed at Howard Johnson's on Florida Street on a previous visit and found the location and amenities to be perfect, so we returned this past week for a few nights while we were in B.A. This hotel is clean and quiet with very effective blackout curtains. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is fabulous with eggs, ham, cheese, potatoes, and a wide variety of fresh fruits, juices, and breads. Every staff member that we made contact with was friendly and helpful. The location is excellent as we could walk to the subway, the port area, and all over the center of the city. Having baggage storage was especially nice since our flight home wasn't until 8:30 PM, and we didn't have to worry about our luggage while we spent the day exploring. We definitely recommend staying here.
Very Nice Hotel ! Great location!
Great location, very clean, quiet room, nice dark curtains, huge room. Very comfortable, has a nice clean bathroom. Close to Puerto Madero walking distance, close to many shops and restaurants. Good safe area, even though you are in a busy street the rooms are very quiet you can sleep very good. Friendly staff, very courteous always wanting to help you in everything posible. Good complementary breakfast you will eat like the locals do, which is fun. We had a great time in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires this hotel was great too.
