Family owned since 1912 and with a decor (hunting-themed) by all appearances untouched since at least the 70s, the visit is fun even before the food gets in. It's the kind of place where the tablecloth is worn but scrupulously clean and perfectly pressed. Most of us had schnitzels with fresh chanterelles and potatoes, and got a very basic but crisp and tasty green salad to start with. I had scrambled eggs with chanterelles, an enormous plate. The fried potatoes we all shared had pork in them, not a problem for me but if you have diet restrictions, ask first. Vanilla ice cream with fresh blueberries for dessert was a bargain at 4 euros. The pancake with apple sauce we found on the "egg foods" list was indeed almost an omelet, and apparently a weird choice for dessert, but they didn't make any kind of deal out of our weird order. Service friendly and they take credit cards. The other customers for lunch on a rainy Saturday were clearly local with an average age of 75. For a place that also had rooms, we got a vibe that not too many foreigners come through. They were curious in a friendly way though. We spoke German so I'm not sure about the staff's English.

Landgasthof Voltmer, hotel-restaurant, in the small village of Ramlingen-(Burgdorf) population 550, offers a quiet retreat in a county setting next to a farm where the only noise that may wake you in the morning will be the cows on the farm next door. The rooms are spacious with two double beds, TV, phone, private bath with shower and free Wi-Fi. There is free off-street parking. The breakfast offers a good selection of German cuisine. The Gasthof operates a fine restaurant and bar with beer on tap. Shopping, gas and train are available in the next town of Ehlershausen, pop. 3,200, about 2 KM on the B3. The distance to Hanover International Airport (HAJ) is about 32 KM, 26 minutes on the B3.

Der Landgasthof liegt zentral im Dorf Ramlingen, direkt an der Straße, die Zimmer liegen aber abseits der Straße hinter dem Hauptgebäude (Restaurant) des Gasthofs. Der Check-in gestaltete sich schwierig, es war Ruhetag, auf allen Telefonen lief nur der Anrufbeantworter. Nach einiger Suche fand ich den Schlüssel für mein Zimmer am Briefkasten des Gästehauses - die eigentlich in diesem Fall zu erwartende Vorabinformation zu dieser Regelung gab es nicht, obwohl meine Kontaktdaten vorlagen. Später meldete sich dann immerhin der Inhaber telefonisch. Das Zimmer war dann genügend groß, gut ausgestattet, mit gutem Bad, alles gepflegt und sauber und schön ruhig gelegen. Dazu TV und kostenloses WLAN. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls in Ordnung, gute Auswahl und Qualität. Unterkunft eigentlich gut für 4 Sterne, aber 1 Punkt Abzug wegen der schlechten Kommunikation und Erreichbarkeit bei der Ankunft.

Nach einer Geburtstagsfeier im Saal waren wir zum ersten Mal Gäste im Restaurant. Wir waren total begeistert. In der urig eingerichteten Gaststube fühlt man sich sehr wohl. Das Servicepersonal ist super nett und aufmerksam. Die Speisekarte ist sehr überschaubar, die Preise sehr moderat. Auf das Essen mussten wir nicht lange warten. Es war alles sehr lecker - ob Grünkohl, Schnitzel oder Wildragout. Fazit: gemütlicher Landgasthof mit lecker nicht überteuerten Essen - wir kommen wieder!

Solides Hotel für den Preis auf dem Lande. Günstig gelegen jedoch an der nahen Bundesstraße. Gutes Frühstück und leckeres regionales Essen, die Küche ist wirklich gut. Die Zimmer sind praktisch eingerichtet und ausreichend groß. Alles sauber und der Service ist freundlich.
