Poor poor service
The hotel ia located next to an old hamam. The hamam is superb but the staff .... is really really bad. Shame! 5 star hotel with a rude impolite staff. A real deception!! BAD BAD BAD I can’t recommend this hotel if you are looking for real 5 stars...
Our first stay at this Kervansaray!
As part of our holiday this year we decided to drive from Bodrum to Istanbul. As loyal Kervansaray customers we booked into the Termal hotel and drove from there to Istanbul. We had booked directly through the Kervansaray website but when we arrived, they couldn't find our booking and told us that wasn't their website (it was). Anyway they offered us a coffee and about fifteen minutes later had sorted the problem and we were in. The room was very nice albeit small and the minibar was well stocked. The bathroom was posh looking but the tub leaked all over the floor when showering and there was a lot of mould. Dinner was exceptional. A smaller choice being a city hotel but the lamb was melt in your mouth and the beef was deliciously tender. The dining room was nice although the chairs are looking a bit well used. Breakfast was unusual - pizza bread and onion rings on offer but there was a dish of scrambled egg with tomatoes onion and chillies which was really good as well as a selection of pastries (the scones were incredible) and fresh fruits. The staff were friendly and attentive. The drinks prices were surprisingly good - we had expected to pay more. Over our two night stay we had six beers which cost 90tl (£13 ish). On our check out day we had a dip in the thermal pool (the pools you'll see in the pictures are the hamam ones in the lovely old building, not the indoor pool in the main building) which was lovely and warm. There is a window pane missing which means you can nip under and through to the outdoor pool - convenient! Overall a good experience.
Hotel with Turkey Bath
We didn’t manage to take Turkey bath as our tour just reached hotel in the evening and the next morning need to check out already. Here are some plus and minus Plus : - spacious room - Have bathtub - Thermal spa - Have minimarket, barber shop and some shops inside the hotel Minus : - old hotel - Smelly carpet - Kettle is dirty - Mattress is not comfortable
Perfect for a relaxing holiday
If you want to enjoy hot springs, swim in a lukewarm pool and sit under green trees, this hotel is a perfect choice. Yes, the building and infrastructure are old. But this hotel has a special atmosphere, reminding me of Turkey of 1980’s. I would prefer to stay here with local flavour, rather than new 5 star hotels with international brands. After staying 5 days, my observation is as follows; 1.location It is at the end of Çekirge street where buses and minibuses frequently pass. It’s close to the center. You can find restaurants, tea houses, mini markets just by climbing a few staircases at the back of the hotel. ( Celik Palace Hotel is a nice alternative for termal experience, but restaurants and tea houses are not nearby ) 2. Termal experience If you are a lover of hot springs, you can go to Yeni Kaplıca public bath In Çekirge . Here you can get similar experience in a more exclusive and quiet atmosphere. the hot spring is not too hot around 38 to 40 degrees centigrade in the large, circular bath. But one step up, you can dip into a hotter small bath .After hamam, wrapped in large towels , drinking tea or ayran in the hall is very relaxing. 3. Swimming pool Clean and lukewarm, enough length for swimming properly. 4. Room I stayed in a junior suite room. Spacious enough, with a balcony facing a large courtyard with the swimming pool. Quiet with good wifi connection. 5. Breakfast Line up of foods is quite O.K. Didn’t find coffee tasty . But this is normal even in any 5 star hotels in Turkey. Tea is always a better choice. The outside terrace is very pleasant in to sit in summer. 6. Service Receptionists are very helpful and friendly. They are ready to solve your problems ( in my case , ferry boat ticket). I am looking forward to coming back to this hotel before the end of the summer. One advice- reserve directly with the Kervansaray Hotel. You can save hefty commission, especially by foreign travel agencies!
Hotel is located at very nice location entegrated with a historical ottoman hamam. Hotel has very old face and needs maintenance. In the corridors you can smell the dust of years. The bathroom appearance is also indication of poor management. The restaurant is located at a very dark corner of the hotel. I did not enjoy. At the entrance nobody took care our luggage. We carried them by ourselves. But not everything was bad. They have amazing massage at their spa and you can have nice Turkish bath experience.
