Wished we had arrived earlier....
Highly recommend this gem if you are looking for a stay before/after using Euro tunnel. A quiet haven in the secluded backstreets of Calais in close proximity to the tunnel. 10 mins. A chic boutique style B&B. Our party had 2 rooms, a double and a family. The double was really comfortable. The family room was really a suite consisting of 2 bedrooms and an amazing bathroom with sunken bath as well as a shower. Breakfast was continental (of course), fresh and buffet style. Coffee was excellent. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
Would definately stay again
Just wanted a simple hotel for the night before our euro tunnel return to England. Really pleasantly surprised by this beautiful hotel. Stylishly and simply decorated. Comfy clean room. Very welcoming host and lovely continental breakfast with tasty homemade fruit compotes and plenty of good quality coffee. If we come through Calais again i would come again for sure.
Calais The Gateway to France on Ferry from Dover
Calais is interesting in terms of it was once a bustling transient town. Cheap flights and Euro Tunnel have clearly had an impact. First time back since I was a youngster and this time with wife and two kids. The Cercle de Malines is a quaint Parisian Townhouse that has a warehouse feel as it is high ceilings and wooden floors so every move is heard. It's nice but felt like a library. Maybe that is my stuff carrying. The lady was nice enough. If you don't speak French don't expect much in way of communicating. Breakfast was fresh and typically French. Located 20 minute walk or short drive from downtown Calais. If you have loads of luggage or wheel chair beware the stairs. It is clean and comfortable, had a great night's sleep. The Bath is awesome and towels soft and fluffy. Great stop over before next part of journey. Would recommend.
Don’t judge a book by its cover
Stayed for a night before our returning euro tunnel trip. We were sceptical when we first saw the building from the street however on entering we were pleasantly surprised! We were able to park easily very close by and the property is in easy walking distance of the town and some nice restaurants. The property itself is lovely, with a classic, stylish Parisian feel with high ceilings, large windows and beautiful architectural details. The host is welcoming and accommodating, she gave us dinner recommendations and some suggestions of things to do in the town. She accommodated our early breakfast time and the continental style breakfast itself was tasty with a good selection and nicely laid out. The double bedroom was clean and comfortable and the ensuite shower room was lovely. Would stay here again when passing through.
Lovely family room
We stayed for one night in the family suite and were very happy with the room. Nice big master bedroom, a separate twin room which the children enjoyed, both rooms joined by a big bathroom with lovely sunken bath and a stand alone shower. Stephanie was very welcoming and helpful and had recommended a fantastic restaurant for our evening meal. Being situated on a narrow street meant not a lot of room for parking but a large multi-storey is just around the corner. Walking distance to shops and restaurants.
