Went to Hotel Hacienda Combia for a vacation and it was better than I expected. The rooms are basic, but the staff, the food and the coffee tour were excellent. Beautiful pool overlooking the countryside.
Heart of a coffee plantation
In the new building it was a bit quieter than the original building and has a lovely terrace with great views but the rooms were small, it was nice to have 2 x double twin beds but the bathroom was so small, you literally had to ‘back in’ to use the toilet and the shower had a brick built surround on which I was permanently stubbing my toes or heels. The space is made smaller buy the fact that toilet paper has to go in a bin. The shower was powerful and plenty of hot water, though you have to constantly adjust the hot and cold as it doesn’t stay consistent No hairdryers but the staff at reception are happy to led you one for your stay, initially they wanted it returned every day but they didn’t pursue this. WiFi is good, consistent and a good signal The staff are lovely, free refills of your personal water bottles and free hot water if you want alternate drinks. Breakfast is buffet style, a good selection of fruits and cereals, limited break/pastries and only one egg option which is precooked and wasn’t always hot (scrambled eggs don’t keep their heat very well and congeal quite quickly) – nice coffee and good fresh fruit juices, there is also a ‘Colombian’ option with beans for the braver tourist. On arrival there are lots of no smoking signs and I was advised he only place to smoke was outside of the car park prior to the entrance to the property, fortunately this wasn’t the case as it would have been a long walk from the accommodation, there is no smoking in the restaurant or rooms but we were able to smoke on the terrace There is a lovely swimming pool and hot tub/jacuzzi Everywhere was clean and well maintained, it was quite noisy overnight with the main road and lorries speeding by. We had a ‘Willy’s convention’ while we were there, it was interesting to see them in the main car park and they were close to the terrace/new build accommodation but by 11pm there was no noise Evening meals initially had a good selection but on further evenings as there were more guests they went to a limited menu which was not that good, food and drinks were also quite expensive, but as you are a ‘captive’ audience with no other places to eat or drink you have no other choice. Lovely plantation visit, not a lot to it and very little coffee tasting, and the 4 seasons ‘lesson’ and painting your own coffee cup was more suited a much younger audience; but the views and grounds are fabulous
nice place
It was like we expected it to be. Lovely grounds, a nice pool and a very good restaurant. The room we had was very small and there was no chance to sit in front of the room to watch the birds as there were no chairs or benches. But the people and the service were very good.
Great relaxation in the coffee region
Great place to relax and swim while in the coffee region. A nice hotel with a gorgeous view looking down from the pool. It’s also a working coffee farm so you can walk around the beautiful grounds and see coffee and many other plants growing.
Not worth, coffee tour is a joke and laundary unbelievable expensive
Rooms in the building downstairs were a bit stinky and the bathroom not clean. Bed was ok. We had our clothes for laundery and payed more then for the room. Also we had to wait more then three ours over the time they told us, so our day was gone because we wanted to go further. Stuff was really friendly, massage was a dream. Dinner was just ok. COFFEEtour: nice guy, but you just walk at the plantage and your just allowed to try the cheap coffee the produce once. We were not allowed to have a coffee tasting! Very expensive for just a walk!!!
