A Lovely Sunday Afternoon Cream Tea

We went here on Sunday, using up a gift voucher my sis-in-law had, for 4 of us. We have been here before and this trip was just the same... a lovely experience! The staff are really nice, the hotel itself is gorgeous and we had a lovely view out onto the golf course. Lovely generous portions of sandwiches (salmon, coronation chicken, egg, I think) and some gorgeous cakes and scones with real cream, blackcurrant jam and strawberry jam. Nice offering of teas and coffees too. It's lovely to have a luxury treat every now and then, and this was just that!!!

I have just returned from 24 hours of perfect January rest and recuperation with friends . The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The whole team were a joy, friendly and professional and really added value to our visit. The restaurant food was presented beautifully and tasted wonderful. Our spa treatments were just what we needed as was the time spent relaxing in the pool and jacuzzi. The anti cyclonic weather was a real bonus which enabled us to walk out in the winter sunshine and enjoy the spectacular countryside. We can’t wait to return in April when the house and gardens are open. What a gem!

Booked this as a birthday present night away for my boyfriend. I paid £376 for us both including a 60 min treatment and breakfast and was a little sceptical as I thought this was a great deal for the price when you compare to some supposedly 4* hotels you can find faults. But not here. It’s really lovely. Great service (bottle of prosecco in our room which I didn’t request! very nice touch!) and friendly staff always happy to help. Very clean, calm and relaxing. Food here is great, excellent presentation and good choice. Spa is nice and has views out onto the golf course. Hotel didn’t feel crowded either. Would 100% recommend and return! Thank you for a lovely stay, Bowood!

Stayed her for 2 night with my family just before xmas. Nothing to fault really. Room was really big, had a nice view, was really quiet and the bed very comfy. The pool was great and my kids loved it. We were a bit concerned as the breakfast wasn't a buffet and as non meat eaters we thought there may not be much choice for us. However, on the contrary the choice was excellent and we were all more than happy with the food and service. In fact, I understand why they don't do a buffet as the table service is much nicer and allows a better choice. A great hotel and we hope to go back again.

Our one night stay

My wife and I stayed here for a single night on Nov 26 2022. We had a Luxury Courtyard Four Poster Suite (£360), we both had a 30 minute massage (£110), we both had a 2 course dinner and one drink (£111), and a few coffees and wines aside (£50). Upsides: The room was lovely, very well appointed and in good condition. The food was very good indeed. The view from the pool/hot-tub (it's a highlight). Staff we all very nice and polite and the service seemed good Downsides: The pool is cramped, not overcrowded, simply cramped. So much so that the reclining loungers were cable tied into their most upright position as in any other position there would not be enough room for people to move around the edge of the pool. The pool is cold, no ifs or but, it is simply too cold. This was the opinion of everyone in the pool room and also friends who had stayed the previous weekend, so it cannot be claimed as a one off. I am sure the cost of energy atm is tough to swallow for a business, but I don't expect a cold pool at a spa. I was unimpressed that 48 hours prior to my arrival when I received the email prompt to book my treatments, it was fully booked. The staff managed to find a 30 minute slot for my wife and I each, but I wanted more. The room keys were forever needing reprogramming at reception. This is apparently caused by their proximity to banks cards and phones. It's not a new problem apparently, and not one I would expect to have t be dealing with as a customer. Overall we had a nice night away, Would I return? Probably not. For £600 for one night I would expect more from the facilities. I think this one will go on our 'yeah, we went there once' rather than my 'wow, I cannot wait to go back' list.
