Sadly needs serious updating and cleaning

Reviewed 14 january, 2022

Booked 2 nights this week. Front desk helpful & professional but the room was a disappointment. Stained rug, cracked tiles & sink (unsanitary), and the biggest ick factor - the prior guest's pair of contact lenses dried up & sitting on the bedside table. NOT Covid or even remotely clean. Dirty curtains, visibly dusty ceiling fans chipped walls, doors, cabinets, peeling wallpaper... Source of ventilation was fans or fireplace (which did not work). I can deal with dated not with dirty and this room was both. This motel needs a major renovation and deep cleaning. There are better places on Moonstone Drive that are following Covid cleaning guidelines and are updated. Definitely not work the price either. We will not be coming back.

Over priced and run down with a wonderful staff

Reviewed 13 january, 2022

This hotel is dated and it's showing. For the price I expected something nicer, it's definitely over priced. The "partial view" rooms really are "no view" rooms, so don't be fooled by that. We had the heat turned off in our room, but it was still really warm, even though is was 40 degrees out. Staff is extremely helpful and the girl who does evening check ins was really friendly and offered suggestions for places to eat. She was quick to supply extra bedding for the sofa bed and was happy to answer questions about the surrounding area, beach, etc.

Poor maintenance high price

Reviewed 10 january, 2022

Such a disappointment. This place is run down and failing in several areas. Positive first: The clerk at the front desk was friendly. Great location. What happened to maintenance and preparing room for guests. The place needs paint, new carpet and drapes. Carpet stained, drapes very dirty with holes. The sliding glass door was so dirty, it was not possible to enjoy the view. Although the website says breakfast, they have it delivered from another hotel on Moonstone with a charge. The clerk said they haven’t been able to set up breakfast because of Covid. I’m sorry, but it’s been 2 years. That’s plenty time to clean and be able to feed breakfast to your guests. The carpet in the hall was wet as though there was a leak. The screen on the slider kept coming off the track and was dirty. Management is simply not caring for this property. There are many nice places on Moonstone, especially considering we paid over $300/night for ocean view king room and I felt I was staying in a motel 6. No more excuses. Just fix the issues!

Beware...shame on Pacifica Hotels (Owner of this property)

Reviewed 22 october, 2021

My review is based on the room, not the staff. The staff was wonderful and helpful. I feel sorry for them having to answer for the condition of the rooms and property. When we checked out, other guests were also complaining about the condition of their rooms. My husband and I visit Cambria and Moonstone Beach at least a couple times of year. The hotel we normally stay at was booked during the time we wanted to visit (for our 25th wedding anniversary). We chose this hotel based on reviews-what a sham. The rooms are in desperate need of a maintenance. I refused to shower due to condition of the tub, tile grout was moldy. The room walls, floors, doors were dirty. The fireplace glass has something melted onto the glass that could easily be cleaned off using a razor blade. The door lock system did not work, the screen door to our patio would not stay on the track to open/close and had tears in the screen. There was no coffee in the room or the lobby (only had decaf available), the dresser drawers don't belong to the drawer unit and don't close. The grounds were not maintained with bird waste piling up outside our room, cigarette butts in the garden in front of our patio (I removed them so I didn't have to look at them). One plus (other than the staff) was the spa. It was open and clean and my husband enjoyed that part. Note that Pacifica Hotel owns (I believe) three other properties on Moonstone Beach. I recommend staying clear. Again, my review is based on the conditions of the room and property. I know it wasn't just the room we stayed in because I asked to be placed in a different room and it was just as bad.

Tired

Reviewed 16 october, 2021

The hotel is old, tired, decrepit. Worn out facilities. Dirty, stained. Great location, but for the price I would expect a Ritz Carlton quality. Only decaf in the room. No breakfast. Packed or otherwise. not even a muffin. Best feature: No bed bugs (so far). Avoid.
