Shoddy communication and care
This hotel is in a great location and I have had wonderful stays here before. This time, the front of house staff and service was an extreme disappointment. When I checked in, the young man gave me a piece of paper so - as he said - I could have the wifi code. I didn't need the paper because my computer remembered the network, so I didn't look at it. The man failed to tell me the most important point in the letter - that there was NO housekeeping whatsoever throughout the stay. After the first day passed I mentioned it to the lady on duty, who assured me that we would get service. Got back in the afternoon to see nothing had been done. When I went to find out what was going on I received no apology, no explanation other than that I should have looked at the piece of paper that he tossed at me. The lady who was at the front desk had no idea that housekeeping was apparently not offered, and she works there! The original man cam back and was rude and dismissive - appalling for an institution that markets - and prices - itself as being so upscale. The website and booking gives no mention of the lack of housekeeping. In understand that many things have to change due to Covid, but this is something that should be clearly communicated at check-out - as well as consideration given to pricing due to the inconvenience for guests
This is a terrific, well-run property.
This hotel is lovely, with spacious, comfortable rooms, very nice bathrooms and great location, very close to Harvard University and Harvard Square. The staff was uniformly pleasant and accommodating. Also, it is a quick walk to the Red Line to downtown Boston. It will be our go-to place when we visit Cambridge and Boston. Our family had a terrific experience. Thank you VERITAS!
Amazing location
Comfortable, chic hotel a stone’s throw from Harvard Yard. Small but unique. My room was not large but it was comfortable and had everything I needed. I really liked the coffee station in the lobby with the artisanal biscuits, and the fireplace was a nice touch.
Excellent stay
Stayed for a night out for a concert. Great location for walking to many restaurants and venues. Rooms were nicely kept with great amenities. Complimentary drinks and coffee, light snacks. Staff are attentive and helpful at every turn.
Very good
I hesitated to book into this hotel because of complaints on Tripadvisor. One was noise. There can be a little bit of noise from outside, but only from traffic. There was none from the hall or other rooms. Another was weak wifi, but I had no trouble with it. Check in was easy. The staff were very helpful. I was upgraded to a king-sized bed and loved my room. The shower stall was kept warmer than the bathroom - great! The price was excellent $121. My one reservation was the tv, which had basic cable - no CNN as far as I could tell, and some stations didn’t fill the whole screen.
