Lovely venue, great waitressing staff but Roast tasteless. Poor veg option.

Beautiful pub, lovely staff, poor Sunday roast. First time back since pandemic but I have to say we were very disappointed with lunch. We opted for the beef roast but we had to have as it came as no choice of well done etc. very thin slices of meat and the gravy was tasteless and like water and too much of it. Only veg option was uninspiring and was whatever meat eaters option but without the meat. A great shame as pre pandemic the food was fabulous hence the return visit. Sorry guys but it was not the same and I doubt we will be back. Maybe put the gravy in jugs and let the diners decide

Birthday Celebrations

We visited the John Barleycorn today to celebrate my sisters birthday. We were greeted with a warm welcome. The staff were very friendly and the food was very good. We chose this pub as it was dog friendly. Our dog Ted also had a good time. We will definitely visit again.

Very friendly and delicious food

3-day break to visit Duxford Imperial War Museum. Perfect location for this. Very friendly staff and excellent service throughout. A magnificent breakfast (included) and delicious, well-presented evening meals (not included). Although it had been explained to us and is written on info in the room, we still managed to miss breakfast the first day (7.30-8.30). Ample car parking onsite. Rooms quirky!

What inns should be like!

Stayed here for a couple of nights and enjoyed superb accommodation and hospitality. Food was excellent and the atmosphere of low ceilings and hearty enjoyment from a packed venue felt good. Service from the landlord down to the cleaning staff was attentive without being intrusive - a rare trick to pull off. Recommended

A great place to go if visiting the air museum

Went here for a late lunch/dinner after visiting Duxford air museum, and cannot fault the food, service and friendly staff. It is very old, with lots of history, and serves very nice real ale. A great place to go for food or drink if you are visiting the air museum
