We arrived on 23rd December and Reggie on reception was really helpful and friendly. I had previously emailed the hotel asking them to provide my parents a ground floor room, due to my mum struggling to walk, they provided this and we were just above them, we overlooked the quiet pool, restaurant and night bar area. The only down side was if entertainment, you wouldn't get much sleep until finished, could not complain as they provided what I asked for. Drinks are served 11-11pm they are ok, Hubby and Dad said Beer was good, they've certainly tasted a lot worse! the vodka did have a strange taste but was passable, I drank the cocktails mainly especially the "Mudslide" that was lovely, Zuly around the pool area and her colleagues were great serving you all day, she certainly remembered our orders and was great. The hotel let us use their wheelchair from stores for my mum as she was really struggling, it was wheelchair friendly and it certainly was helpful. Dad has a massage on the beach and said it was excellent, best one he's had a while. if you do sit around the pool, often during the day, they will play water polo or basketball, so expect to get a small splash every now and then, but nothing huge. The room was ok, bed was comfy, room made up every day and clean towels provided. The shower did occasionally drop pressure while under it, once it built back up about 1 minute later it was fine again. great that the toilet was separate, the mini fridge was stocked with 2 bottles of water, couple of cans and juice, which was replenished when used. all in all everything so far was ok. The only thing I wasn't over keen on was the food, most of the time is wasn't warm, we always had cereal for breakfast as knew that didn't need heat, as someone has mentioned, the waiters weren't very attentive at getting you tea or coffee in the mornings, often we had to go over to the station and ask for hot drinks also if you wanted any condiments you had to ask for them as well, I get there was someone serving your food to stop cross contamination due to Covid, but more that 1 person would stop the queues forming and you may get warmer food. We did always find something to eat. The snacks around the pool bar at 11am were warmer and we would often eat there for lunch and didn't really go to main restaurant, mainly hot dogs, burgers, chips. salad, nacho's and often pork bites etc.

The Cancun Bay Resort staff was friendly and helpful. Especially Sheila, Lupe, Gabriel, Luis, Zulu, and Santiago who worked in the kitchen and bar did a good job. The hotel is small, but the service and the food is good. The workers are all very respectful and friendly. Thank you Haro Family.

November honeymoon in Cancun

All staff in hotel friendly and helpful. Special mention to Lupe, Gabriel and Chayla. Our stay was really enjoyable only down side was loud music at pool bar Overall very well run, everyone of the staff lovely I would recommend this hotel we had a great honeymoon

The best of the resort is it's personalized service. Mostly in the pool / beach area. There are Fabiola, Zuly and Fabio who make the magic! Also, the resort has a short but a very nice beach. With "amacas" in the water for relaxing. The animation staff do a good job! And we loved a cuban singer in the nights! The food is good. Elaborated like at home! The rooms needs more maintenance.

Terrible Experience

The Good: 1) Associates at the front desk were pleasant and helpful. 2)The massages on the beach were phenomenal. 3) The hotel (I will use the term resort lightly) was very clean, the staff was always working to keep it looking nice. The Bad: 1) Our room had no hot water, regardless of time of day. 2) No dressers for your clothes; limited space in the closet. 3) Alcohol was only served from 11a-11p. If you fly in late and want a night cap, forget about that. Mimosas with breakfast? Nope. 4) The alcohol was so bad that regardless of how much my friend and I drank, we still had a headache and heartburn. 5) The "stocked mini frig". Yeah...you get 2 bottles of water, 2 sodas and 2 juice boxes. That doesn't cut it. 6) It is obviously an older "boutique resort" as the bathroom mirrors are warn on the edges, the picture frames in the room have gouges on them, the veneer on the furniture is chipped/beat up. 7) While we understood it was a family resort, the children were completely out of control. Throwing balls across the pool, with one hitting my friend. The child was very rude and entitled. I understand that the hotel is not responsible for the entitlement, they did not police the pool at all. 8) The hot tub was cold. 9) Quiet hours are not enforced. Kids screaming and yelling until 12:30 at night. Rather difficult to get sleep for an early flight. 10) Due to COVID and this hotel's regulations, the food is served by staff while you wait at the buffet, instructing them what you want. This also would not be an issue, however, they have ONE person serving and the line is 20 people deep at times. 11) The staff placing the food on your plate do not speak English. I am allergic to shellfish. Saturday is seafood night. I had to try to explain to 3 kitchen staff before the manager came out (the 4th person) to explain I am allergic to shellfish and didn't know what I could eat. Additionally, my friend and I were not asked at check-in if we had any food allergies. 12) The wait staff in the cafeteria (that's basically what it is) completely ignored my friend and I after the first day. We had to ask for our coffee/water. The last day we were there I tested my theory. Many of the waiters saw us, even made eye contact but never came over to see if we needed anything. We were literally done with breakfast before the manager noticed that we had not been waited on and she got us coffee and water. Tips are earned, not expected. When a customer does not receive service, you get no tip. 13) It is obviously an older "boutique resort" as the bathroom mirrors are warn on the edges, the picture frames in the room have gouges on them, the veneer on the furniture is chipped/beat up. 14) With the exception of the front desk staff, we did not feel welcome at all. We were Americans in a very predominately Hispanic populated resort, only Spanish speaking. To top off our experience, I discovered the morning we returned home that I left my necklace in the safe. The necklace has a precious gemstone pendant that has great sentimental value to me. I called the resort at 9:15am and was hung up on. I emailed the resort (ventas@cancunbayresort.com) at 9:20am. No response. I tried a different email that was on the website (reservas@cancunbayresort.com) at 2:35pm. No response. I called the resort 5 times from 2:30pm - 3:00pm trying each of the prompts (1-4). Each time I was hung up on. Lesson learned, you get what you pay for. This is the 5th time I have been to Cancun and this is by far the WORST "resort" I have ever been to. As with others that have provided negative reviews, I would also love to know where these people that provided rave reviews stayed because it sure as hell wasn't where I was.
