Amazing - Best Stay!
My husband and I decided on Cancun for our anniversary trip 2020 due to Covid and Mexico was easy to travel in and out of. This was hands down one of the best vacations ever. The staff was absolutely amazing. Food was exceptional and drinks fantastic. The views are amazing but the beach there is pure white sand and to me the best beach in Cancun. I HIGHLY recommend that if you are looking for a great hotel with amazing staff then this is the hotel for you.
An ok stay
Good: The pool staff are friendly and offer prompt service, the food is ok, the typical fare one would expect from a mid level resort Beds are comfortable, rooms have a hotel chain feel to them and but very clean and with good quality linens The pools and beach are pristine and peaceful Bad: Front desk service is reminiscent of sid the sloth in Zootopia. Room service is the same, when we ordered we were told the food would be ready in 20 min. 45 min later we called and we told it was “almost on its way”. We ended up using Ubereats.
Avoid this hotel
I very much regret staying at this hotel and would strongly urge others to avoid it. I've stayed at many Intercontinental locations; this is the first serious disappointment. I had two adjoining rooms for over a week. This helped me determine whether something was an isolated problem or more likely to be in multiple rooms. It is a very poorly planned/designed/engineered hotel. We had to figure out all the options and amenities (pool hours, cabanas, etc.) ourselves because there's no hotel guide in printed or digital form. Windows slam shut if there's a breeze so we had to prop them open with water bottles and nerf footballs. The bathrooms (toilet + shower) are accessed through a sliding door. That door kept getting stuck and, in one of the rooms, kept coming off the top rail entirely. I had facility personnel returning to that room for 3 days. The toilets have a very weak flush and there's no exhaust fan. Enjoy that smell while your sliding door is off the rail and you can't keep the window open for a breeze. The tv mounts are maddeningly crooked and, in one of the rooms, the position was far to one side. I asked housekeeping to bring me firm pillows so they brought me the same mushy pillows I already had. There weren't enough beach chaise lounges in the shade for the limited capacity present. I'd hate to see what happens when it's 100% full. I had to chase the concierge for 2 weeks to arrange a little birthday surprise for my 10yo daughter. I ended up having to arrange it with him in person (a very underwhelming small dessert and some balloons). There are two restaurants serving bland food, both of which you have to go outside to reach. The only indoor dining is for club access. The hotel location isn't great. The zona hotelera's entertainment area is between the hotel and a lot of the restaurants/activities you'll be going to which means you might end up sitting in traffic. This isn't a popular hotel so there were no taxis standing by. We were late more than once because it took so long to get one. This was made worse by the understaffed valet. I relayed all this to the manager a couple days prior to leaving. I let her know I'd be posting details as a review and gave her a chance to make it right so it'd be reflected as well. She sent some bs dessert to my kids (which I said I didn't want). That's it.
Hotel is a THIEF!
Third time at this hotel. Terrible front desk service! Stayed at this hotel for 8 nights, they offered me free COVID tests for the room upon reservation (me and my 3 little kids), but they finally only granted 2 free because they said I had no proof they had offered me free COVID tests for the entire crew. So they charged me extra 90 dollars for something that was supposed to be free after a 3rd night of staying at this hotel. Terrible attention from receptionist Erick and supervisor Jorge Chi. I reserved with a 50 dollar credit per night, but be careful, nobody tells you that if you don't use it (daily) you lose it! So if you had a day that you go somewhere else (for example to any of the tours they offer) and you don't use that credit that day, then you would lose your 50 dollars for the day (it won't roll over to be used another day), how ridiculous. The final bill with all the expenses is also totally confusing and very hard to understand, OMG! Keep track of your expenses at this hotel! Overall terrible experience this time, will not come back.
Review on Jeremy
Writing this review simply because my stay in Intercontinental Canun has been extremely pleasant because of Jeremy at the Le Cap Beach Club. This is the first time visiting Cancun and this man deserves praise absolutely brilliant with making drinks and recommendations on food, on top of that the service from Jeremy and his team have been absolutely amazing. Best restaurant in the resort by far. Thank you very much.
