Seadust Spring Break
We had a great time at the Seadust. Very family oriented. Food was just OK. The staff was exceptional. Angel at the Pool, saw us & brought us drinks & our kids Pina Coladas(Virgin of course)without even having to ask .Courteous, friendly and constantly cleaning & sanitizing. One negative , It was difficult to get room cleaned and fresh towels. Had to call a few times to finally get what we needed.Overall an A+ vacation.
Okay but overwhelming
This was nice the first couple days but quickly got old and hard to deal with kids in overwhelmingly big place full of people and ended in room a lot. Wait time in elevator is really bad sometimes. Don’t recommend if more than 3 days. Drinks were watered down and food not so good in some restaurants that you expect more of. We had the luxury infinity band was disappointed with some bar tenders. The beach was dirty and barely cleaned Over all the kids had fun in certain spots where food and drinks not allowed which was a bummer!
Not what we were expecting-disappointed overall
The hotel is extremely humid and muggy everywhere you go. The rooms did not go below 78 degrees. My kids and I had one room and my mom in another room. Both of us had maintenance come to “fix” the air. They spent some time working on it but it didn’t fix anything. They told my mom twice they would give us different rooms but after a couple attempts they ignored us. There is no sign in the hotel for the casino-it’s difficult to find. It’s basically a bar they put in a couple blackjack tables, 1 roulette table and 2 slot machines. I feel like it was false advertising saying it was a casino. After one night we decided to check out and move next door to the Iberostar. It was much better-the air worked and rooms were comfy. I doubt we will get any money back but we are glad we moved hotels and ended up having a great vacation!
Perfect Family vacation spot
We just got back yesterday and had a truly wonderful time at Seadust. Our kids (5&7 boys) were both crying when we had to leave. We stayed for 5 days 6 nights in a Family suite with the bunk beds. There were 2 things that stood out for me, Service & Cleanliness. Everyone there is extremely kind and helpful. We had an issue with our TV and the fridge in the room. Within 10 minutes of calling they came and fixed the tv and replaced the fridge. This place is CLEAN!!! There are some spots that could use some spackle and paint but I never saw a messy area and not one single bug. NOT ONE. I even looked for so much as an ant. I couldn't find one. The closest thing I saw was one gecko (tiny lizard) and that was outside in the golf course. Maybe he was eating all the bugs, Anyway, SUPER CLEAN. The kids has a blast on the water slide, in the pools, the beach and the kids club. We painted ceramics and they touched them up to give them an amazing look. The staff at the kids club is super friendly and accommodating. My oldest is on the spectrum (autistic) and they were able to help him and made sure he had a great time. The food is good, fresh and plenty to choose from. Room service is a nice touch. Make sure you go to El Maguey and ask for Absalon. He provided INCREDIBLE service for me and my family as did Gabriela. The food is the best there as well. Due to COVID sometimes the place felt deserted but there were no lines or waits for anything. The SPA is amazing. We did the couples massage. They should honestly charge more. $340 plus tip gets you 10min in sauna, 10 min in steam room, Waterfall shower, 10 min in massive jacuzzi, 50 minute massage, facial , then a soak in private jacuzzi with champagne and chocolates. SOOOO GOOOD!! Tips: - outlets in room work with American electronics, no need for converter, but bring a power strip, the outlets are limited. -Bring a white noise machine. The doors are a little thin and sometime they have events in the lobby that are loud. Not a big deal though. -Get a private ride from airport ($50-60 round trip) worth it. -Most people speak English, but when talking through a mask it is sometime hard to understand. Brush up on your Spanish and it will help both of you. -COVID test: Its located to the left of the store in the lobby, down the hall. When you come to the glass doors you will see a small sign on the right showing the testing hours. Beneath that is a QR code. Scan that code with your phone and fill out the form and submit it. 5-10 min later you will get an email with a code. They need that code to enter your info so you can get the test. I just saved you a half hour of confusion. Results back with in the hour.
NOT All Inclusive, weird policies, you need to be an Infinity member to be treated properly
I have stayed in Mexico dozens of times and almost always have a great experience and I love the Mexican people. I suspect this resort 's management is ruining its reputation. I don't think I've left a review before, but for this one, I felt compelled to leave some feedback on the second day of our vacation. Let's start with the positives first. Mexico and its people are beautiful. The weather is nearly perfect during most of the year. People are almost always very friendly. The staff here has to enforce some questionable policies. I don't blame them for that, but I do blame whomever is managing this place. More on that later. From a COVID standpoint, they are doing all the right things. A bit overzealous, but if that's your main concern, this place is safe. I still don't appreciate the staff telling my kids to pull their masks up when they're standing right next to me, but that's just me. We arrive, everyone is friendly, the staff is constantly cleaning the lobby and it didn't take too long before we had our room assignment and bracelets. You can't go right up to your room without talking to the concierge first. They walk you through the app and the map (should take 5 minutes), but their primary goal is to schedule a morning meeting with their sales person. They said it is a 4 year anniversary breakfast and want to celebrate with us and tell us about the resort. It will only take 60 minutes over breakfast. OK, fine, we agree. Dumb move, more on that later. We get to our room and it's not what we requested. We had one request and it was missed. A quick call to the front desk and they get us a new room. No big deal, mistakes happen. We get changed, grab a bite and a drink and go to the beach side pool. Some call it refreshingly cool. I call it unheated or the heat is turned off. Not unbearable, but I'm from the Midwest and used to the cold. We stop by the beach and it's a red flag day. Don't bring your kids down there if it's red flag. My daughter was tossed around by a big wave and doesn't ever want to go back. Not the resorts fault. We come back to the room to get ready for dinner. I turned the thermostat down before leaving, but it hasn't cooled from it's original spot (25 C / 77 F). Also, the fan doesn't work. No way I'm sleeping in this. After multiple attempts to call maintenance, they promptly arrive and fix the fan. Then they roll in a portable AC with a big black plank in our patio door. Not pretty, but our room is now at an acceptable temp. It appears this setup will be permanent for our stay. We arrive at the restaurant 20 minutes after our reservation because of the repairs and were reminded about the importance of being on time. OK, thanks for the reminder. We are hot, hungry, thirsty and not having a great day, but that put us in a bad mood. The food is OK. The burger buns are crispy, the chips don't have any salt, my entre was very fatty, the cheese sauce is watery and they don't have lemonade. They make some at the bar, but I though lemonade was pretty standard. My kids love it. OK, moving on. The next morning, we awake to 5 back to back calls reminding us about our breakfast meeting at the Lighthouse restaurant. Annoying. We get to the Lighthouse and they remind us that we aren't able to dine there because we're not Infinity members. OK. We check with concierge and they take us to the sales room to check our IDs and credit card. We're starving and are kids are restless. They then tell us it will take 90 minutes and involves a tour to show you what you get as an Infinity member. That's it, we're out. We remind them as of now, we won't be staying here again., so no need for the upsell. Now, this is why I'm not calling this all inclusive. If you're not an Infinity member, you can't go to certain restaurants or get served top shelf drinks. You can only get beverages from the bar (nothing in your room fridge). You get 1 bottle of water when you arrive. If you want another it's 260 pesos. You want a few things to keep in the fridge, it's 450 pesos for a basic setup with soda, water, etc. You want a bottle of wine to share with the spouse after the kids go to bed, that runs 400 to 800 pesos. You want decent coffee, that costs extra. Anything not in a cup served at a bar costs more. On Day 2 we go to the kids pool. We bring our towels from yesterday (beach side pool). They have different towels and tell us to walk back to the other side of the resort, exchange the towels for cards then walk back and use the cards to get towels here. That's probably a 15 minute round trip. Really? OK, we'll just use the dirty towels from yesterday. The kids play for a while and have a blast. We're on the upswing. It's 82 F and sunny. They announce that they're having a dance contest. Cool, my kids love dancing. It was 30 minutes of someone with a broken mic trying to bark instructions at the kids in Spanish. My kids didn't really know what was going on, but when it was time to dance, they danced. OK. It's hot and sunny, so we go get some ice water for us and the kids. We were told by 2 different people that is no food or beverage by the pool. Food I could understand, but not even water? Really what they meant to say is that we couldn't have them. Most everyone else around us had a beverage of some kind. Maybe because we weren't Infinity members. This is not what I want to be doing on my 2nd day of vacation, but people need to know what they're getting into here. I hope Seadust management sees how their policies are affecting their visitors. I will update this if things improve, but as of now, we will not be staying here again. There are many resorts that appreciate their guests even without special membership. This is only 30 hours into our stay. I will update to let you know how the rest of our vacation goes.
