We had an excellent time having breakfast every morning with our favorite server.

Reviewed 20 january, 2022

Ceasar Mendicuti was our favorite server every morning. He had our favorite drinks waiting at the table for us and our crispy bacon we always wanted. While staying at Secrets The Vine, I recommend asking for Ceasar. He even had a cake for us on our last morning.

A fantastic couples vacation spot

Reviewed 20 january, 2022

The resort is wonderful. But it is the wait staff that makes it exceptional! Manolo Elvira, Edgar and Jose were the most attentive waiters. We thank them for making a sweet ending to our trip. They brought a special dessert plate for us and were so personable. We will return because of the whole experience.

Amazing hotel and staff ❤️

Look no further and you wont be disappointed! 100% recommend this hotel, starting off with the amazing entertainers (brian, gio, charly, carlos and lots more) they were really friendly and funny too always with a smile, great energy and ready to entertain you. Secondly the food was delicious you have 6 different Restuarant’s to choose from and all were amazing, also 8 bars and all staff were very friendly and approachable with all the best drinks you could get i recommended the superman shot & mango tango 👌🏽. Thirdly the maids our room was always cleaned laura came 3 times a day and left it perfectly cleaned beds always made. Alsoo the room service was the best with alot of options to choose from the tablet they provide, and comes very quick, and lastly the hotel with 3 pools, 1 infinty pool, 1 jacuzzi also have a beach area was beautiful. We had no complain whatsoever all inclusive does mean all inclusive you will never be without a drink in your hand or food to eat!! And ALL staff were as helpful as they could be also the concierge team where there for anything you needed and planned the most amazing trips, thank you for a wonderful experience. ❤️❤️ #vivamexico

Great Staff, Mediocre Food, Good Rooms that need a bit of love

Reviewed 18 january, 2022

Average seems like the wrong word, but I wouldn’t say VERY GOOD, which is why I rated this hotel as such. We stayed a week, so let me outline why I gave this rating. Overall we had a really good time. The staff (for the most part) was very kind, gracious, and happy to help. The hotel (built in 2012) has not been renovated since, which is starting to show. The hotel is not run down by any means, but the longer you look at things the more dated it looks, and there are small things like water damage, broken glass, and other small things that could be updated to bring up to standard. Front Desk: Always a great experience. Claudia deserves a particular shout out- she was so nice and warm and welcoming. An employee any hotel would be proud to have. Everyone else was very kind and always ready with an answer or ready to help. Rooms: We were initially in a Jr. Suite in room 1703. This room is great, a good size and you have a wonderful view of the ocean, lagoon, and the seemingly nightly (albeit very brief) fireworks set off by the Hard Rock next door. The Hard Rock has what looks like to be a club that faces Secrets, but seems to be quiet after 11pm, so the noise was never an issue for us. A few days in we wanted some extra space as we didn’t leave the hotel for the week and upgraded to room 1800. If you can DO THIS. The Master Suites are super spacious, and have a direct ocean view. It feels like you’re at sea looking out at the water. They also have a great bathtub that overlooks the ocean and up the hotel zone, so delightful to bathe with the breeze flowing through. The bathrooms are nice, beds comfy, but the only really odd thing is a glass door that is frosted only in the middle for the toilet area. Even with a spouse, it leaves little sound absorption and awkward times when you know… you have to GO. FYI the internet is SUPER Spotty and cuts out often. If you have to do any work (which is sometimes unavoidable) just be patient. It works better in rooms, but once you go out on the balcony or at the pool, it’s best to just not use it at all. Cell service works great everywhere we were in Cancun. Food: This is the biggest issue with this resort and drives my average rating. I’d never stayed at an all inclusive other than a cruise, where dining is an event, but the food is not good here. Other than a few dishes which i will outline below, the food is kind of like good airplane food. If you’re a foodie, prepare to be disappointed. Nebbiolo: We went here the first night and it was very mediocre. While service by waiter was good- the food was bland and certainly not authentic Italian. Gnocchi had about eight of them in there. When you think you have ordered enough, order more. Portions everywhere are small. Also the bartender here was the rudest employee we encountered. One of us dosen’t drink and was very pushy and rude about why he wasn’t drinking. Prepare for this often around the resort- they can’t fathom why someone would be sober and more times than not when a Diet Coke was ordered they’d say “rum and coke”? It’s not cool, and feels really odd to push this so much. Dragons: Fine, I guess. Pad Thai was not anything close to the dish I know of, and the apps were good. Sushi was fine, a safe bet. Alejandro here was amazing such a good waiter and knew portions were small so encouraged us to order lots. Food delivery slow, but we noticed this happens the later you eat and more people are eating Olio: One of our faves. The salmon tartare served at lunch here was legitimately good. Dinner not as amazing, but overall a better place to eat. Blue water Steak: Was actually pretty decent. One of the best of the trip Sea Salt: The restaurant on the bottom level by the pool is seafood and also one of our faves. Also great staff here. Buffet: Pretty good- order the made to order omelettes every morning- worth it. Also good empanadas Mexican: Was actually quite good. Good tacos, the waiter was great, but he was the only waiter in a full restaurant. It took a long time, but it was worth it. Also another note. TIP YOUR STAFF. Just because its all-inclusive- they need the extra money and it goes a long way with them. We noticed not many tipping which his a shame. If you take care of them, your experience will be all the much better. Also when you check in they say reservations aren’t required or taken for small groups. THIS SHOULD BE A THING. If we didn’t eat on the earlier side- you’d have to wait 45-60 mins for a table. It would help the staff too plan meals and help with food delivery wait times. Also drinks are pretty weak- find a bartender or pool staff (who are amazing BTW) and tip them! You can ask for doubles or bigger glasses- do this, and you’ll be much happier. Entertainment/Other: The entertainment staff are great. The pool syncronized swimmer show was great. There also was a magician one night, SKIP IT. Live bands are fun,but everything ends really early. There was one night where they had a DJ and dancing, which was fun. The best night was Karaoke, so much fun, but again, everything is over by 11, so don’t expect to rage here. Overall it was a calm vacation but if you want to party a bit more, this isn’t the place for you. There were some parties, which i know the staff cant control that didn’t get this. There was enforcement around the pool about people yelling and stuff, but one night at Oilo there was a group of wasted people that the staff didn’t say one word to. This is a nice calm restaurant and was really upsetting. I went to the front desk and they were dealt with after we left, but the enforcement could have been swifter. The gym and spa were great. Kind and helpful staff, Vanessa and Ophelia are great masseuses and come highly recommended by me and my friends. Overall- it was a great relaxing vacation, but not sure if I’d visit again. The upsell to their time share is annoying and other upsells at dinner and such are also a pain to have to deal with on what is supposed to be an all inclusive. That being said, its an easy getaway and we didn’t have to leave the hotel once. There are positives and negatives to consider for sure. Also as an FYI as as gay couple we felt very respected by staff and guests and met so many cool people from all over. There were other gay couples too so that was nice to see, which made us feel at ease. Oh and GET UP early to reserve the best pool chairs!!! Leave a book and shirt and lay out your towels (like 7am) to get the chairs you want. Lower little pool is more fun and has music.

Did not live up to the hype

By far the least favorite Secrets, or Dreams for that matter, that we've been to. You still get the great service, but the beach is non-existent, the pools are meh, and the food was bad. Beach, for example, was only deep enough from the building itself to the ocean for one row of lounge chairs. We felt like sardines. No room to walk. Rooms were nice, and views were great. Layout is just a highrise. No property to walk around. The spa was absurdly priced. They wanted $788 for two massages! We passed on that needless to say. Good acoustic entertainment in the lobby but not much else. We upgraded to the preferred club and it was a waste of money unfortunately. It added nothing interesting. Bars and drinks were alright. Just not close to a fiver-star resort. We are being generous with four stars. We met fun people and made the best of it, but we won't go back. Coral Level at Iberostar, which is not far away, is far superior.
