You definitely get what you pay for. Lesson learned. We decided to do an Air B&B this trip and save some money. Stayed in one of the privately owned suites at Solymar as the price was great. The ONLY good thing about our stay was that the room had a nice view of the ocean. The taps weren't working well, no coffee maker, bedding was stained, light fixture fell from the ceiling in the middle of the night. Needs major updating. The building itself is in very poor shape. The owner Michelle completely misled us about the sea weed prior to our arrival. She claimed there was none when in fact it was terrible. You can't swim in the water as it's too rough and the pool is awful. Worst deck chairs ever, no shade at all, pool bar is deserted and left derelict. There are very few staff around pool area and garbage left all over from parties the night before. Saw a couple rats and lots of big cochroaches including a couple in our room. We didn't eat here but heard the food is terrible. There are TONS of stairs and elevator wasn't working often. Very loud in the hallway- no soundproofing. Little store in the lobby closed more often than not and in order to get bottled water we had to walk 15 min in the sweltering heat to the little store up the road and carry it back on very rough sidewalks. Drama with the owner of our suite left us with anxiety for most of our holiday. Wish we spent more and went to a better place. Never again.

We booked this through Booking. The pictures of property DO NOT reflect condo 3602. I have included a few comparison pictures. I also included Diego's (the property manager) response on WhatsApp when he seen or review on Booking. Poor customer service: After we reviewed condo 3602 Diego, the property manager replied back " don't come back never" Pros: GREAT VIEW Cons: BLACK mold on balcony curtains (picture bellow) No lock on balcony sliding glass door Kitchen was disgusting, cabinets falling apart and drawers are coming apart (see comparison pictures) Bathroom and sink area were old and dirty (see comparison photos) Barstools at counter were rusted and the seats were not attached to barstools Living room had 3 couches/futons one had broken and loose armrests and the pad was stained. The other 2 were in poor shape as well to the point we would not sit on them. Bedroom the curtains were held up by a wire and were disgustingly dirty, cabinets secured closed by electrical wire, walls appeared dirty and there is a hole in the wall. The air conditioner was leaking water. It created a substantial pool of water on the floor. This created a pretty terrible slip hazard. We were only provided 2 white (grey from age super old towels) and a shower floor towel. So we used the shower towel to try and soak up the water on the floor. The air conditioner is mounted directly about the door that leads to the bathroom so everytime you walked under it you got dripped on. Please beware of this property.

Please don’t stay in here, I paid almost 250 dlls for two nights, the room look like abandon house, no cooler, no comforter or other covers, the kitchen with holes no sink or something, the mattress with fungus and is not refundable if you want to leave they said you can go cause they can’t give you another room

There are bugs and mold, everywhere. We stayed on the bottom floor and ants would constantly creep into the room through the balcony and the amount of mosquitos that we killed was absurd. I understand that it's right by the water, but the outside doors and windows should at least have a mesh or some sort of seal. There was mold on all walls of our room, the bathroom ceiling and in the corners of the shower. I got a rash 2 days into the trip, and I'm 99% sure it was because of this. Also the housekeeping does an awful job, when they did come around. I asked for them to clean our room twice, and they never came. Once they did, they barely cleaned anything. What blew my mind is that they didn't even replace the sheets!! They just tucked everything back in and called it a day. I would never stay here ever again. You're better off in a cardboard box on the side of the road.

I DO NOT recommend staying here. The hotel is dated and dirty and there are ants and cockroaches in the rooms. The worst part is the service from the clueless, unfriendly and unhelpful staff. They charged my card twice for a dinner and then refused to recognize that they'd done so. Nothing they'd do about it (even after speaking to management) so I just had to accept that I'd paid twice. There are plenty of other similar hotels in Cancun so whatever you do, AVOID Hotel Solymar!
