Some renew is needed but it has a good spa/interior pool and a great location.
I've read many reviews and I do agree most of them. The place has one single main problem: its aging. If they renew it as the pool is then it will be great. Rooms are big, the location in front of the sea is excellent, the service is quite attentive and they have a reasonably priced good restaurant. Yes, they should remove or renew the carpets, the furnitures too etc but the base is good so it can become a very convenient hotel once this is fixed.

Grand Hotel?
My understanding of the expression "Grand Hotel" was seriously challenged when staying here. This hotel needs a serious overhaul because it has aged and not to its best. The carpet in our room was in a way that we did not dare walking around without the flippers. Discussing with other guests it looks like we were not the only ones finding the floor covering close to disgusting. The breakfast buffet was somewhat ok but far from what one expects from a Grand Hotel. In the country famous for its cheeses, they offered ONE which was sort of the type that is produced industrially in square-yard size and then cut into 3 to 6" pieces. As for the coffee machines you have to operate yourself: chose a normal coffee and then add an espresso otherwise you can't drink it. The sole dinner we had in their restaurant was on the other hand of very good quality. The location is good with direct access to the beach. Service is a bit spotty, some good, some bad, mostly average. There is no spirit of hospitality in that place, unfortunately. As to the Thallasso part: it's well conceived but a factory. On a usual Friday there were dozens of used bath towels spread all over incl. resting chairs and nobody collected them.
1998 Called and Want Their Hotel Back....
It's very dated. Which - I can accept if it's clean at least - Alas It wasn't. Cleaner had left the room without finishing. Used soap in tray, used shower gel and shampoo in bathroom, bin on countertop. Overall room dirty with hairs etc. Gym - beyond awful. You could grow tomatoes in there it's so hot. The AC barely functions and they have a crap rickety fan to use with 2 extension cables randomly linking it to a socked.. NO water cooler or bottles of water. Tap and sink outside the gym with lukewarm water more suited to washing hands. At door to outside / beach access, no hose or tap to wash of sand. Canet has a nice beach but soulless town. Would not return. Sorry. Needs a complete refurb. I fed this back to staff in person. OH - and coffee machine in room broken....and I paid €400 for a suite. Hmmm
A Beautiful Hotel
This is the second time that we have stayed here and again we were not disappointed. Right from the welcome through to the departure it was a lovely stay. The rooms are nice and large with great beds.. Breakfast great.. Pool and gardens are all really nice. Spa is nice with good temperature water in the indoor/outdoor pool. We love this hotel, it is right on the beach with just a walkway separating. This walkway is great to stroll along in the evenings if you want to venture out to find something different. If you want to know something.. just ask, all of the staff are very helpful.. especially the Bar Tender. The Hotel is right at the far end of Canet-Plage.. and only 5km from St. Cyprien on a straight road. Many Thanks Can't wait to go back.
