You Can’t go Wrong
We’ve stayed in many places in Colombia from Bogota, Medellin, Pereira, Santa Marta, Taganga, yes Cartagena to Barranquilla where my wife is from. The Conrad Cartagena is by far once of the best properties we’ve stayed at in Colombia. From the prearranged transportation in a Mercedes Van from the airport to the gracious welcome from the front desk with a refreshing drink all the way to the servers at the beach & pool everybody was warm, attentive, and welcoming. We were a group of six – I booked all three rooms through our AMEX Platinum which gave us some nice extras such as free breakfast, late checkout plus $100 of resort credit per room. We spent 3 nights here right as COVID was becoming real 3/11 – 3/14. We didn’t play golf (way too windy this time of year to play) however we experienced the main pool, the beach area pool and all the restaurants. Everything was top notch. We didn’t go into the city on their shuttle as the next part of our trip included that as we stayed the next 4 nights at the Hyatt. If I had to give one critique, the bartenders at the main lobby bar weren’t too social or outgoing. Once travel gets back to the new normal don’t hesitate – book this place! You will enjoy it!
An AMAZING hotel stay - would absolutely recommend. GREAT PROPERTY!
My fiance and I stayed here for 8 days in January and it was phenomenal. The welcome drinks upon arrival, the upgraded suite was beautiful, the grounds and the pool were very well maintained and the service was incredible in every area. As I mentioned, the welcome at the front desk was spectacular, we spent most of our days at the beach club, and while service was much better at the pool area, we enjoyed being by the ocean and the pool. The food was great for breakfast and lunch - we didn't eat there for dinner, because we went into town each night. We did get upgraded to a gorgeous two room suite for being Diamond members, which made the experience even better. We were worried about the location being far from the Walled City, but the complimentary transportation was fairly frequent and very easy. It wasn't a bad drive to and from where it cut into time and the shuttle allowed you to stay just late enough that you could have dinner and drinks and make it back. There was a consistent pick up and drop off spot so we were never worried that we had missed it and even one time we were running a bit late and the driver was looking for us - great service! The resort itself is sleepy at night and each night back in our room, we would bring back a bottle of wine from the shops but we would have gladly spent more money at the resort if the beach club bar was open at night and ended our night there. We truly had a spectacular stay at this property and cannot say enough good things about the staff, the building, the amenities, and the golf course. We would absolutely stay here again if we're lucky enough to come back to Cartagena. Thank you for an amazing stay!
Amazing staff and a relaxing stay 💙
Had a fantastic holiday at the Conrad Cartagena . The hotel was very comfortable, clean and had a nice vibe . Our room was spacious with a wonderful sea view. Our balcony was a bit narrow therefore the seat and table were quite small and not very comfortable, compared to some of the other balcony furniture in other rooms . There was a breakdown in communication between the cleaners and housekeeping on a daily basis regarding crockery and coffee pods . We usually had to telephone for them to be replenished every afternoon as there wasn’t any left, after the room had been serviced. These small niggles faded into insignificance though as we were so happy with everything else especially the happy, caring staff. The food was also excellent with a delicious breakfast buffet and some of the best Pizza I have ever tasted in Adesso Tu at dinner . The Sea Salt bar served great chicken wraps and I can recommend the Coconut Lemonade . So refreshing and delicious !! The free shuttle to the old town was very well organised and efficient . The drivers were very friendly and helpful . I would like to mention the following staff , who were the ones I can remember (Sea Salt) a big shout out to Yoser , he is a credit to the Hotel , also David, Mercedes,Juliet, Sofia and Alejandro . (Son and Ron) Juan and Fredy .. great Mojitos and Cosmopolitans !! (Beach Club) Susanna and all the guys .. always made us welcome !! (Pool Bar) All the guys were friendly and helpful setting up your sun-beds and towels daily. They provided a wonderful service with drinks from the bar . The pina coladas were the best I have ever tasted !! A special mention for Hernando and the hilarious Iggy . The pool area had a lovely atmosphere with music and regular visits from the iguanas . (Spa) Had a fabulous massage!! (Concierge/Guest relations) Hamlet, Amaury and Marianella were all very helpful and efficient. (Kids Club) Crisreyna and Elvis were lovely !! (Adesso Tu) Miguel Angel ( lovely man) Diego ( excellent) , chefs on the omelette station!! Denis, Gustavo, Wilmer, Alaiandrina and Oniros !! (Reception) Dewer was great !! I can’t remember every name but all the staff throughout the hotel were so nice ... they made our holiday so special !! Hopefully will return again some day .
My family (myself, husband and two young children) stayed here for five nights. We’ve been to Cartagena before, so the distance from the city (about 15 minutes) did not bother us at all, as we wanted a quieter, more relaxing stay this time. Very impressed by the quality, hospitality, service and amenities offered here. ROOM: We had a deluxe oceanview double room on the 6th floor (highest floor). We normally try to book a suite when we travel so we have enough room to move around, but this room was spacious enough for all of us and all of our luggage, etc. The best part was the balcony with perfect views and comfortable chair for relaxing. Note that the balcony is not private, in that people on other balconies can see onto your balcony and visa versa. Second best part was the turn-down service in the evening and returning to a rug laid out, complimentary bottles of water and beds inviting us in. You’ll have to ask for face towels because that was not a standard each day. FOOD: Purchase the breakfast included package if you are a foreigner, as it saves you on one of the otherwise unavoidable country taxes. The breakfast buffet (7am - 11am) is plentiful and had variety each day. Standard each day is an omlette station, fruit station with a juicer, pastries/breads (including gluten free) station and another section with items that changed daily such as pancakes, waffles, arepas, scrambled eggs, breakfast soups (egg, fish, chicken), cassava, potatoes, salmon, etc. Plenty of options for non-meat eaters. There were fresh juice choices, as well, including a mimosa station on at least one of the mornings we were there. There are a few places to grab lunch, and again, enough options if you do not eat meat. Dinner starts at both restaurants (Biblioteka and Adesso Tu) at 6pm. Note that at the restaurants, if they crack open a bottle of water for you, even if it seems complimentary, you will be charged for it, so pay attention if this is of concern. Also pay attention to the bill because once at dinner, our check noted that tip was included/charged, but at every other meal, that was not the case. ACTIVITIES: There is a Kids’ Club that is open from 10am - 6pm every day. It’s free for one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon/evening, and otherwise, available for a day pass with an option for lunch. I never saw any kids in there during our stay (though there were multiple families with young children staying at the hotel), but we took our son to check it out and it seemed to have plenty of games and activities available. You also had to ring a bell to be let in because the doors were locked, which was a nice security feature. In our room, there was a schedule of pool activities, but I never saw any activities happening. Between Adessu Tu and Sea Salt Grill restaurants, there’s a game room with pool tables, foosball and ping pong. POOLS/BEACH: There are four pools in the hotel courtyard and plenty of space for people to not feel crowded. I didn’t see any umbrellas at the pool area, but most of the shade came from the trees. The beach (Karibana Beach Club) is a 3-minute ride (on a golf cart) at the back of the hotel. You can also walk on a path through the golf course. There are plenty of loungers and umbrellas for shade. There’s also a pool at the beach area. There was a red flag the days we were there, so we couldn’t go in to the water, but for a true beach experience in Cartagena, you should go to Baru or Rosario Islands anyway. SERVICE: Service was impeccable. Literally everyone was super professional, friendly and made our stay enjoyable. There are several staff members I would like to mention by name, though: Sofia, Rosisnel, Kevin, Julie, Diego, Ernesto and Glexy (at Adesso Tu- breakfast and dinner); Susana, Oneida, Jose and Louis V. (at Karibana Beach Club); Yuleidis (at Biblioteka); Crisreyna (Kids Club); Melissa (taxi stand) and Franklin (front desk). I wish I also caught our housekeeper’s name, but sadly, I didn’t—it seemed like she cleaned our room as soon as we stepped out for breakfast and dinner. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Paradise in Paradise
This resort should be #1 on Tripadvisor for so many reasons, but due to the distance from the city (20 min cab ride) and the fact it is so new, it is still climbing up the ranks. The distance from town is a non-factor if you know ahead of time and is easily taken care of with either the free shuttle or a cab ride that costs $15 USD. Due to my Gold status, we were upgraded to an amazing suite that had views of the ocean and a wraparound porch with chairs. The suite itself is very light in colors with a comfortable bed and a rain-style shower. The spa in the hotel offers some amazing deals with massages and they have their own little pool on top of the 5+ pools in the main outside area. Definitely try the restaurants in the hotel as they offer some great local food options and the hospitality is top-notch. If you see a lady named Glexy make sure to say hello and get to know her, she will offer a lot of options to do and see in town and will spend the time to get to know you and your family. We will be back once all the craziness dies down.
