More about the hotel
This hotel is a real nightmare! Due to traffic noise it's super noisy in every room.
Iwish I could say something positive about the hotel but there is simply nothing positiv, Hotel rooms, traffic noise, breakfast, everything is just bad. Nicht gefallen · The worst thing on the hotel is the traffic noise. As the hotel is located directly on the main street of Catania center, there is literally 24 hours a day a lot of traffic on the street and therefore it's in every room super noisy so that you really can't sleep. Also the windows are quite thin and there is nothing you can do against it. Secondly, the Manager of the hotel is a real scammer: We booked for 3 nights (payment in the hotel) but as our flight got cancelled we had to leave the hotel after 2 nights. The Manager promised us that it's no problem, he will charge 3 nights from the credit card but will transfer the amount for 1 night back. After 4 weeks I'm still waiting for the money and the hotel is not replying to mails or calls. Additionally, the receptionist doesn't speak any word in English and the breakfast is just a joke.
Hotel Regina Margherita
It is more like a hostel, not a three star hotel. Positive: the location, the air conditioner and the balcony. Negative: strange and loud noises from the bathroom (even during the nights), the breakfast is in an other building near the hotel.
A historical palazzo
Spent one night in this Hotel which is on the 4th floor of a large building. The whole building used to be owned by a rich person who resided there. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was nicely furnished and with air-conditioning. The elevator is very interesting - typical 1940's. Breakfast which was at Misterlino, a shop which sells crochet and knitting yarns and which also is a bar was good. Close to the city center, flea market and shops.
Good deal for few days if you don't have big expectations
The hotel occupies the 4th floor of an old palazzo. The location of the hotel is good: on the main street, close to the center - 15 minutes walking distance. It is also very close to the Alibus stops (airport shuttle) which is an advantage. The staff is really friendly and helpful! Especially Maxim and Luisa. They helped me with lots of recommendations and even booked a tour for me to Taormina. The rooms are rusty ad could use a renovation. The elevator is old too. The bar were they serve the breakfast is around the corner, not in the same building. The breakfast is not amazing, but good enough to get some energy to start the day.
Good location, great staff, old furniture and noisy rooms.
The location of the hotel is good, there is a bus stop nearby and you can take the Alibus to the airport from this stop. Center is at walking distance (about 20 minutes walking). The staff is really friendly! The rooms are with old furniture and there are lots of noises, but it can be handled for a couple of nights.
