A very warm welcome and an amazing stay

We stumbled upon Ocean Point completely by chance after having booked into a neighbouring property and having had a bad experience during a 2 night stop over from BVI returning to Gatwick.
Having checked in to what I can only describe as Castle Greyskull the night before, (a totally different review altogether) and having to trek 2km by foot to find supplies followed by a horrific nights sleep, we decided to spend as little time as possible in Skeletors pad and get out to see Saint John's.
We were waiting for a bus and noticed the hotel next door, Ocean Point, had opened its doors after being closed during the covid pandemic that morning. We were tempted to "have a look" after spotting a shop inside. We found a little oasis and a warm reception staff who gave us bus times and even called to let the driver know we were waiting for his bus!!!
We enquired about room rates as we still had another 2 days in Antigua before flying home.
The reception staff made us feel valued and offered us top class service from check in to check out.
The hotel is charming. Rooms beautifully clean and beds very comfortable.
The food here was amazing, fresh, tasty and well presented.
I cannot wait to go back, the hotel is rated as 3 stars and yes, there are little details that have small room for improvement, but that's being picky. For service, comfort, guest treatment, quality and price I give 5 stars....
This little gem of a hotel literally saved the end of our amazing holiday!
Ps, I recommend the PrawnToast, best I ever had!
Relaxing stay at Ocean Point

We stayed at Ocean Point for 10 days and had a lovely spacious room with a large king bed and fantastic ocean view. The 2 beaches are beautiful and very secluded and there is a large swimming pool with plenty of lounges around. The food at the restaurant was fantastic and the ladies working there were so lovely and attentive (special shout out to Debbie and Donella). Due to Covid it was a la carte menu not a buffet and occasionally the bar and restaurant ran out of ingredients but this didn't make a difference to our stay.
Nick at reception was fantastic, always so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We would highly recommend this hotel for a quiet and relaxing stay in the Caribbean!
We loved it!

We booked this after checking out the Trip Advisor reviews. Overall, it was better than I had expected. The site is beautiful and the gardens are well maintained with lots of flowering shrubs. We saw birds, whistling frogs (don't know their specific name) and lizards. One guest did see the non-poisonous tarantula - fortunately we didn't! The rooms are quite pretty and we had a garden view room on the ground floor, which meant we could walk straight out via our veranda/patio area to the pool, which was very convenient! The air conditioning is excellent and kept our room refreshingly cool. Due to covid, the tea/coffee facilities are in reception but this was not a problem. There is also a cooled and sparkling water dispenser in reception to enable you to refill water bottles, which was an unexpected benefit. There are plenty of sun beds - some look like they could do with a bit of a clean and repair, but overall fine. We liked that the hotel had a ball and a woggle (noodle) in the pool - lots of us enjoyed using these/playing water volley ball. The two beaches are lovely and very quiet. We are generally very fussy eaters but were pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavour of the food. It was waiter/waitress service at the table which we much prefer to buffet and I think this was also due to covid. The bar do cocktails with local alcohol included in the all-inclusive price, but some of the bar staff did not know how to make them and the choice was a bit limited. However, we could not complain for the cost. Some of the staff are lovely - friendly, helpful, polite (Nick, Rossana, Tara in Reception; Debbie, Tyiana and Christian in the restaurant). Unfortunately, some of the male staff made inappropriate comments to female guests, my 17-year old daughter among them, which, as her mum, annoyed me as they were very objectifying and they did, on occasion, make her feel uncomfortable. I think the owner/proprietor should look into this. There were bits of the hotel which need a bit of updating - the shower water pressure, tiling and some paintwork but the bedding was spotless as were the towels and seating in the reception area was lovely. Cheaper to ask the lovely reception staff to arrange trips than to use the local travel reps. Overall, we had an excellent and very relaxing holiday and would definitely consider going again.
A lovely stay in Antigua

We had a wonderful time at Ocean Point. The staff were really kind and helpful. I felt like I was continually asking questions at reception but it was never a problem. The staff in the bar and restaurant were always very attentive and the food exceeded my expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed every meal.
The atmosphere at the hotel was very pleasant and relaxed and the other guests were extremely friendly. The pool was lovely and clean. We did some snorkeling off of the beaches and whilst it doesn't have the same crystal clear waters of other parts of the island, we enjoyed seeing a few tropical fish and feeling the warm water each day.
Our only small issue was that the water in the shower was not very hot. This didn't worry us as it was nice to cool off from the outside, but other visitors may take issue with this.
The other thing to be aware of is that we found that most attractions were on the southern side of the island- there isn't a whole lot to see and do in the immediate area around Ocean Point. However, getting taxis was really easy (mostly we found they were already waiting outside and if not reception will call and one will almost immediately appear) and when I enquired about car hire, the hotel said that was something they could organise if required.
Thanks for a fantastic stay!

When you go to the Caribbean, there is a huge range of prices. Whilst this is not cheap, it is when compared to some of the larger hotels. This review is written based on the fairly budget nature of the hotel. Clearly, bigger hotels will be more luxurious, but for what you pay, you need to be realistic in your expectations.
Victor and Junior on the bar. Nice guys, attentive and a few card tricks too.
Pool is nice and large (few missing tiles but pretty clean)
Food was excellent, but could have done with a few more options for desert and alternatives to chicken Caesar salad.
Rooms was clean and spacious.
Bar - nobody serving in the daytime, you have to go and find people to serve you. They often run out of essentials too.
Beach - Small and full of seaweed. You will need to travel to find the famous clear waters and white sands
Umbrellas - Only about 3 around the pool. Need more
Waiting Staff - Often forgotten at meal time. Felt a little neglected
Overall I enjoyed my stay. There is a local bus that goes right past the door if you don't want to pay the very high prices for trips. The hotel is a long way from anything else, so if you don't have your own car, either get the cheap bus (£1) or very expensive taxi.
Take your own Covid testing kit, they charge £70 on Antigua for the rapid flow.
