More about the hotel
Great location but very tired and not a 4 star hotel
The hotel’s location in the city centre is its best feature. The reception and cleaning staff were very helpful, however, breakfast staff seemed stressed, unprofessional and rude so that we simply went to have breakfast elsewhere. Breakfast is included but you choose between either sweet: an old pastry or savoury: a bread roll with ham, olive oil, tomatoes. One drink per person is included but again very limited choice. The rooms are in a bad state of repair, very old, the wardrobe is an absolute joke and doesn’t provide space for 3 people or even only 2. The beds are of course twin beds and not double like in a lot of Spanish hotels. There was a nice little separate alcove set up with a bed for our daughter with her own light switch, ceiling ventilation and own TV - very appealing for elder children. The air con was very efficient and there was a quiet setting which made it possible to keep the air conditioning running without being disturbed at night. The view was good even though we had a week of levanter. The hotel is not family friendly. The swimming pool was ok but water cold as no sun reached it. The pool was only open between 4 and 6 in the afternoon which was a disappointment but the pool was in any case not an attractive area to stay for longer than 1 hour. There was no bar near the pool and the atmosphere was not very welcoming. The bathroom was very old and tiny for 3 people. Shower is in the bath tub and the water pressure is low. The WiFi was great throughout our stay. I travel a lot and this is no way a 4 star hotel. It’s not accessible for wheelchair users and even with a pram you struggle to fit into a lift. The hotel could be great but really needs a total revamp and modernisation throughout. At the moment this hotel is max 3 stars.
Great value
Very comfortable hotel, obliging staff and great value. We will definite go there whenever visiting Ceuta. It is perfectly located in the city centre, convenient to all amenities. We found it is very easy to manage our bookings and, if necessary make adjustments. Highly recommend.
Basic, clean & reasonable
We’ve stayed at this hotel twice now. It is basic, clean and reasonable in price. We got a good deal with the ferry + hotel from the mainland if Spain to Ceuta. €175 included a €16 rtn ferry (set times of course sailing) and 2 nights with breakfast. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is ok but not a great choice of hot food. Will use again.
Perfect location
This hotel exceeded our expectations. I optimistically asked for a nice room at check-in, so we were delighted to be given room 804 on the 8th floor with fantastic views of the Mediterranean and, if the weather had been clearer, also Gibraltar and mainland Spain. The rooms have a genuine 4* feel, although I do expect a double room to contain a double bed rather than two single beds pushed together. The air conditioning is very effective and quiet enough to sleep. There could be more English-speaking television channels, despite this part of Spain not being popular with English speakers. For example, GBC from Gibraltar only 25km away wouldn't even need a satellite dish. This hotel has undoubtedly the best location in Ceuta. It is right in the middle of everything, and it takes 13 minutes to walk to or from the port with wheeled cabin baggage. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. On a more general note, Ceuta is undoubtedly the most civilised place in mainland Africa. As well as being a pleasant town, it is geopolitically very interesting, and I would highly recommend a visit, including crossing the border to Morocco for a day trip. Two nights at the Ulises Hotel are ideal for this. I am grateful for the slightly late checkout that we were afforded.
Nice location
it was my first time in Ceuta, and some friends of mine adviced me to come to this hotel, the room is big and clean, the reception staff are nice, but the breakfast was a little bit poor as there is no many choices. The hotel is well located close to all the shops and restaurants aera. i recommand to stay here
