muy linda experiencia
Nuevamente fui por una noche a Champaign para dar un seminario, y me hospede en este lugar por recomendacion. El precio es bastante bueno digamos, el breakfast tambien y esta bien ubicado dentro de todo
Not great, not bad
Checked in online about 10PM, for around a midnight arrival. When we arrived I was told that I'd checked into a room that hadn't been cleaned and shouldn't have been listed as available. OK, no problem. But then, actually, the room type I reserved (1BR suite) wasn't available at all. Would I mind a Studio instead? I asked if that's a downgrade, which is surprising for a HHonors Diamond (right?), and she said she'd take some money off of my bill. It ended up being about $5, which isn't too impressive. Anyway, went to the room and it was a nice room, very clean, and good heat. When getting into bed we realized the duvet cover was missing something.... a DUVET wasn't inside it. It was late and we were tired so we just skipped calling down. Hmm.. It was a Saturday night and being told that breakfast ends at 9AM, we skipped that too. That's pretty bad for a Sunday morning. Oh and ice machines were all turned off "for your safety" though this was the last hotel of a 16-night car trip, and this was the FIRST hotel that had that rule. Maybe I was in danger at the previous 15 nights? I don't leave many bad reviews but really this didn't work out. Staff was friendly. Price was cheap. Just not acceptable considering most of the problems could easily be fixed.
Clean, Friendly, Good Location
We stayed for one night on a trip to a family reunion. The room was clean. The staff was friendly. Everyone that we encountered inside the hotel was wearing masks. The Expresso Royale coffee shop next door is excellent. We also had good takeaway tacos and burritos at the Cactus Grill. Jarlings Custard Cup is just a short walk.
Very Few Masks
We stayed in this hotel in mid-July 2020. Illinois is requiring masks in public spaces. No one was masked in the hotel lobby. At the desk, there are two small plastic shields, but the staff did not mask at the desk. I did not see any signs asking people to wear masks. I understand that it is really up to the guests to do this themselves, but I feel that there should have been something encouraging them to do so. I am very, very disappointed in Hilton.
Hit or Miss
I stayed at this hotel twice recently. I would rate the first stay as a 4. I found all of the hotel associates to be friendly during that stay. The only negatives I would have for that stay was that the food served for the manager's reception that night wasn't that good, and the person staying in the room above mine was rather heavy on their feet. My second stay was a complete disaster. We arrived to attend a basketball game that started at 4:00. Check-in for the hotel is posted as 3:00 on their website. I wanted to check-in prior to the game. Was told at 3:00 that the room would be ready in 15 minutes. 15 minutes later that turned into an additional 30 minutes. So, we just went to the game. When we did check in around 7:00, my wife and daughter got stuck in the elevator for 20 minutes. When we got to our room it sounded like the people above us were running laps around the room. It was noisy for two days straight. Also, while the dishwasher in the kitchenette had a note saying the dishes inside were clean we discovered that the items inside had caked on pasta on most of the dishes and cookware. I guess they needed an extra hour to get our room ready. Housekeeping never bothered cleaning our room on the second day of our stay. The breakfast served the first morning was okay, but it was horrible the second morning. At check out I mentioned some of these issues to the front desk associate and they said they would make sure I received some extra rewards points due to these issues. My stay was 7 weeks ago and I still haven't received them. They shouldn't over promise what they don't plan on delivering. It's funny usually Hilton sends me an email asking for comments on my stay. I didn't get one for this stay. I will only stay here again if their rate is cheaper than the surrounding competitors.
