Never Again!

Reviewed 18 may, 2022

Om May 14th American Airlines booked a room for us due to a missed flight. Upon arrival, we were told they did not have a vacancy. The receptionist was not helpful when we ask if there was anything else close by. I explained we were unfamiliar with the area and could she please recommend something. She recommended returning to the airport! We walked away and a young man approached us and said he overheard the conversation. He had also been sent by American Airlines and told no rooms were available. We were able to share a cab back to the airport. American double checked and they had accepted both our reservations. I’m not sure why there were no rooms available when we arrived. I understand that sometimes things can happen and places will overbook. However, the attitude at the hotel was unnecessary. She could have suggested a place nearby or helped us call and get transportation back to the airport. Not knowing who to contact we had to google cab companies from the parking lot. A little kindness goes a long way. That was not the case here. Perhaps some professional development needs to take place on customer service at this hotel.

Buyer Beware! Grim and Skunky!

Reviewed 10 january, 2022

The family and I visited the area for Christmas. Our stay on December 17, 2021, will definitely be our last! We were greeted by BD. [He was the most appealing aspect of our visit, very professional] Entering our building we were greeted by a horrendous wave of “skunky” marijuana smoke; absolutely overwhelming! OK, so things happen. However, once on the second floor we discovered that the odor did not dissipate. The building’s entry doorway looked incredibly unsafe given the “renovations” that were underway; part of the ceiling just inside the doorway looked as though it could collapse. On the second floor, we found one door that looked as though it had been kicked in and flashing hall lights reminiscent of “The Shining”. BD moved us to another room in the main building. Issues with Room 2: Hair in the shower (lots of hair), a dirty shower door, pillows and bed comforters with clumped filling, paint stains on the bathroom floor, ceiling leaks that had been patched/painted over (and not very well). After returning that evening from Carowinds, to our dismay, the first thing we noticed while boarding the elevator – marijuana – again (and clearly not the good stuff). We were tired so we decided to just deal with it and sleep. However, “skunky” found us again – inside our room – at 11:45 pm; it woke us up it was so strong! We left a day early for other accommodations. Also, we noticed what appeared to be “graffiti” on the wall next to the pool (probably glue left over from a former sign), scuffed doors/walls, breakfast without the selection there once was, and yes – blinking lights from “The Shining” in the stairwell next to our second room. I'm not a prude, but geez! Why would Marriott offer accommodations in such a run-down, “skunky” environment and risk alienating longtime customers??? Our biggest concerns? 1) Ongoing, illicit drug use on the property (we had a minor in the bunch), and 2) concerns of general safety (building or otherwise). Finally, when I complained just prior to leaving – no one really seemed to think any of it was a big deal! I expected more from Marriott and for $123.00 per night! Transparency: Marriott did provide 5,000 rewards points for the inconvenience, thanks. (See photos.)

It's a dump.......actually worse

I cannot even begin to describe the conditions of this facility. For starters the employee were extremely friendly and awesome to work with, honestly I don't even know why they would choose to work here. Yes this is a Marriott and run down Marriott, for the looks of it it seems as they are using this hotel for government housing since they are a long stay type hotel and I don't have a problem with that except that management is NOT keeping up with the maintenance, pieces of the building falling apart, the entrances are so filthy with beer bottles, trash cigarette butts everywhere, the inside hallways are just as bad as the outside and surprises me the cleaning ladies didn't pick up the trash and paper trail left behind while cleaning the rooms but not surprise there either, I don't really know what is clean and what wasn't. Honestly we couldn't sleep thinking the possibility of the sheets not being replaced from the guest the night before. It's said that pictures are worth 1000 words, I hope so, very unhappy and dissatisfied with this hotel and sad to know that if it hadn't been because of our trip to Charlotte for a football game with family I would have cancelled my stay because of the misleading advertising in your webpage.

Reasonable rate but facility appearance is not the best

Reviewed 19 july, 2021

I stayed this past weekend. The location is somewhat secluded and you could miss it easily if you're driving too fast. It's in a heavy tree area and the grounds are not well-maintained. The building is a little run down, which is not standard for Marriott brand. The hallway spell on the 2nd floor where my room was located smelled of marijuana, it was obvious that someone was smoking in their room. My actual room was very clean, no issues there at all. It even smelled like bleach, so that indicated they did sanitize the room. The bed was not as comfortable, but doable. The pool did not look appealing at all (looked unsanitary), I would not dare stick my foot in it. The picnic area was not well maintained or landscaped, overgrown trees/weeds. I would have been apprehensive to grill in that area. Overall it was an average stay but going forward I don't think I would stay at a TownPlace Suites again because the hotel chains are not appealing upon entering. This is the second one I have stayed at in Charlotte and both hotels were similar. TownPlace Suites gives me an impression of an upscale Motel 6 or Super 8.

One of the best hotels ever!

Reviewed 1 july, 2021

This was one of the best hotels my family of 5 ever stayed at. We also have a dog and the hotel is very welcoming of pets. The staff was super duper friendly🥰 The room was awesome with a full kitchen, plenty of room and beds and linens. It was clean and beautiful. The area is well lit and safe with a very friendly security guard that watches the parking lot. We have an open trailer with bikes, kayaks and lots of other things and felt confident that it would all be safe. The breakfast was a grab and go, but great including breakfast sandwiches, danishes, cereal to name a few. We were very impressed and hope to be back when passing through again! Thank you so much!❤
