Very disappointing overnight trip with 7 friends. We met for a sandwich at hotel, (cheapest sandwich was egg mayo at £9). Went and played golf. It took 51/2 hours due to number of people crammed on the course. Returned to hotel, no cups, spoons, one sachet coffee and tea, no soap, and a broken shower head in the room. Dinner was OK. Breakfast had only cooked selection, no croissants, pastries, fruit, continental selection. Went to second course(premier course). We were given a wrong tee time, there was someone else given that time too. Only 41/2 hours so manageable. Nicer course too. Clubhouse was dark, smelly very tatty and tired. Sandwiches came in cardboard cartons not plates and coffee from cheap machine in paper cups but charged £2.50! All in all shocking value for money and would not recommend at all.

Stayed Monday 6 Sept for just one night and wish it had been longer. Fabulous room 321 lucky to have it. Room was spotlessly clean. Staff all working so hard and friendly particularly the bar. But the best bit was our visit to the spa Sam and Olivia? wonderful therapists an asset to the hotel. Perfect Elemis treatment. Thank you

I was surprised to read some of the negative comments on this hotel as it did not reflect our experience at all.
We hade a 2 night stay with 3 rounds of golf on the championship course
and we had absolutely nothing to complain about.
We had was a large twin room the bathroom was also big with both a bath and separate shower cubicle, and both the bedroom and bathroom were very clean.
Breakfast was a good selection of cold and hot food and the Restaurant food was limited menu but food excellent and presented well.
All the staff from the girls on reception who were friendly and professional and checked us in promptly, The guys in the golf shop sorting the buggies and their help and finally the dining room staff were very polite and helpful nothing was too much trouble for any of them - Harriet you are a little star thank you
for all you help.
Looking forward to going back very soon.

I really really don't know where to start with this, we have had the most beautiful experience with the team at MacDonald Portal, right from booking our wedding in April 2019, all the way through the pandemic, to assisting me in every single way possible. Chloe and Nicky have been the most wonderful wedding planners and we generally couldn't of picked a better team to get us through the hurdle! We had the most amazing time ever over the full weekend, the food was absolutely amazing (thank you so so so much Chefs). A special thank you to Kristen- an absolutely beautiful soul, from arriving on Friday night all the way through until 3am on Sunday morning, she was with us helping with anything she could, it felt like I had known her all my life. Nothing has been too much trouble- even during lockdowns!!! Me and my now husband felt so welcome and like part of the family! There was always enough staff for the bars, noone was ever waiting long for anything at all! Nicky was the best golf caddy driver 😉 and I am so so so sad everything is over now! So grateful to have found this beautiful hidden gem!! Thank you so much 🥰🥂

Very pleasant and attentive staff, good information and recommendations about the area given, breakfast efficient. However the decor needs updating it’s a little tired and I presume due to Covid staffing levels the restaurant was a little scruffy.
