Cottons Hotel & Spa

We booked a stay to celebrate my 4yr olds birthday for 2 adults and 2 children. We enquired about the rooms and was told the family suites were modern and would fit our needs. On arrival we were shown to a ground floor family suite , first impressions were good based on the size as there was plenty of room for all the kids stuff and baby cot but the room was very dated, wallpaper coming off the wall, dated bathroom, someone's rubbish under the bed and just generally disappointing. Certainly not the family superior suite I had requested and nothing like the website pictures. We did not ask for another room as our 4 yr old had already bounced on the beds and touched things and we are aware how tricky this is because of covid. We loved the pool facilities and this made our stay as my son really enjoyed it. We ordered room service trying to avoid contact with others and noted it was very expensive (£17 for mains /burgers) , the food was horrible and the children's burger was some sort of rubbery processed meat. Again we didn't complain at the time as it was too late to get food from elsewhere (again difficult due to covid ) and we did not feel ordering something else from the expensive menu would have been much better especially if we had to wait again. I emailed the hotel after our stay to discuss the fact we were given a room that was not what we had discussed when we called to enquire or what the website suggested it would be and about the food but several weeks on I have had no reply which I feel is unprofessional .

Had a one night stay booked with evening meal and breakfast. We were in one of the newly refurbished rooms which was great. Decent smart tv and good coffee machine. Spa facilties were clean and well organised. Food was great and service impeccable. Will defiantly stay again.

this was our second stay here so we clearly like the hotel but we ate so disappointed that they do not enforce or even attempt to enforce the wearing of face coverings. we had a lovely meal in the restaurant but guests were moving around without face coverings as was the singer! also walking back to our room we met 4guests fit young healthy adults none of whom were wearing masks and none of whom had been challenged. everything else was perfect but this let them down

We held our wedding reception here on Friday 4th December. Everything was perfect from start to finish, the food was delicious, our guests could not stop complimenting the meal and the service from the team on the day was outstanding. Thanks to Kurt & Cian (I hope the spelling is correct) who looked after us on the day. You made sure everything went to plan just as we wanted. Service was quick but not rushed and we didn’t need to worry about anything as they had it all in hand. Also a very big thank you to Rebekah who helped me plan the wedding with 1 weeks notice! From the enquiry right up until the night before Rebekah was on hand to answer any questions and was so quick and informative. The team really helped make our day very special and something myself and William will remember for a very long time. Thank You

The booking for our educational group fell through and Cottons came to the rescue. I’m so glad they did. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn’t do enough for us. It is seldom that I’ve come across such a professional, welcoming and friendly staff. Nothing was to much trouble. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the communal areas shone. The food in the restaurant was very good and the one night I couldn’t eat in the restaurant the food was brought to my room. From the taste of the food they have chefs that can cook not just reheat chilled food. As a group we had several members that had special dietary requirements which they dealt with in their stride. The light desserts (coffee/tea and a small dessert) are not as small as you might think, the piece of cheese was generous. The prices in the bar were reasonable - try the cocktails. My only issue was the live music on a Friday and Saturday it was too loud and intrusive. It was a barrier to communication. The spa was clean and again friendly staff. The treatments are reasonably priced. I will definitely try and visit again
