Good view and comfortable place
Reviewed 11 October, 2020
I had a outside-workplace meeting during 10-11 Oct 2020 at this resort. The resort was closed to Mae Kong river. It was about 50 km from Mae Fah Luang Chiangrai international airport. My room C201 was on the second floor and was spacious with safe box and all amenities needed. The bed was comfortable and clean. The breakfast is good enough. I will come back, may be during new year festival.

well sited on the banks of the mekong on a landscaped property, the bungalows were nicely, if somewhat austerely, designed and appointed. however, sewer gas overpowered what should have been the fragrance of tropical blooms, probably due to a lack of traps in the drains. we filled plastic bags with water and placed them on top of the floor drains and the problem was solved.
lthe restaurant was not even one star. yesterday's lunch of phat see yu, a thai stir-fried noodle standard, had no taste. the pork was unseasoned. the noodles undercooked. no effort had gone into seasoning the dish, even many dashes of maggi couldn't bring this dish to life. every roadside stall in thailand can do a tasty version of this dish. dinner was bbq, kebabs to be exact, cooked on an underpowered gas grill. there was no char on either meat or vegetables. the onions used where the white variety normally reserved for cooking, and were hotter than an isaan prik key nu (the lethal peppers used in thai cooking). the dish gave the appearance of being boiled, not broiled. and again no seasoning. breakfast, normally a meal no cook can destroy, was devastating. the coffee came out of the battered but expensive espresso machine luke warm and weak, obviously a thousand dollar machine past its prime loaded with the cheapest robusta beans. out of curiousity i ordered the eggs benedict on the basis of the photograph on the menu photo. no bernaise and only two poached eggs on toast. the eggs tasted only of the water vinegar solution used for cooking. inedible. fortunately the toast and packaged marmalade were okay.
it's sad that so much money was spend on landscaping and construction of what should be a 4-star facility. however to attract repeat customers they will have to finish the job and put in a decent restaurant. as it is now even gordon ramsay couldn't revive this kitchen. the staff is willing and friendly but needs some supervision and a good chef.
this hotel with a bit more work could actually be worth the more than $100 per night charge.
A wonderful place stay near the Golden Triangle

Located on the banks of the Mekong twenty five kilometers outside the city so transport is required.
My villa room was large with a comfortable king size bed, modern bathroom and balcony,all very clean and well maintained.
The restaurant serves good quality food and the swimming pool is an added benefit.
Each member of staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel arranged visits for me to the Golden Triangle and Mae Sai which I really appreciated.
I really enjoyed my time at Bansae Garden and Resort.
Very nice legitimate resort

Real resort on the river, off the road, the resort is not small, on premises golf cart, deafening quiet;
Is on a spot on the river with a large bend both up and downstream, pretty, no power lines or really anything on the Laos side other than trees;
The resort is run with precision, security calls ahead to reception, reception calls ahead to restaurant, etc;
The restaurant is nice, the kind of place, overlooking the river, you could spend all day,
Great way to start and end the day;
My Choo chee plaa (mekong River fish curry) was the best I have ever had,
Very good service, the restaurant alone will keep me coming back,
Only thing of import within walking distance is temple nextdoor, the village is non-descript;
Front desk can arrange transport, pity none by river tho, 16 km from chiang saen, 40 from chiang khong, pretty place, Swan pond, monkey cage
