Amazing Hospitality for a Wedding

We hosted our wedding and several pre-wedding events at the JW Marriott and could not be happier with the experience. From start to finish, Erin was so wonderful to work with. She helped keep me on track and organized, and made the whole experience seamless. The entire hotel staff the week of the wedding was FABULOUS. From the bartenders, to the wait staff, to the front desk everyone was fantastic. We felt at home at the JW, and some day I want to come back and give everyone who helped with our wedding a big hug. It made us feel so special and welcomed, we loved every minute of it!


Great location, staff and facilities. Terrible cleanliness.

I’ve stayed at Marriott my entire life. I usually only have good things to say about JWs. Unfortunately, this time was the exception. The room cleanliness was just not up to par with what the price and the brand demand. Another nit pick, about hotels in general right now honestly, it cost $40 to get a burger to the room! When did room service get this outrageously expensive? Maybe it’s just been a long time since I’ve ordered in.


Bonvoy Platinum Elite and still they treat you like garbage

I’m a loyal Marriott traveler and have never been so disappointed with a stay. The level of service is like a two star hotel when we paid a premium to stay here being marathon weekend. When we arrived no one was outside to hep us with our luggage, not once was there a bell man to hail a cab either. It’s marathon weekend, we have an infant, and prior to arrival I asked for a late check out so I could finish the race and allow our daughter to have a nap before flying home. At first, the late check out was granted, something they always do for Elite members, then they rescinded it. When I inquired they said I could pay $180 to stay until 6:30 pm, but no they wouldn’t extend a complimentary late check out. Clearly there is room available, they are just trying to pinch more money off their loyal customers. Tonight, the night before the marathon, I asked room service to deliver a bowl, coffee mug and spoon and they told me I had to come downstairs to get it, as they didn’t have someone to bring it up to us. When my husband went down, he was given a plastic bowl and paper cup. For platinum elite members Marriott always provides room upgrades when available. It’s a busy weekend, so I understand that, but the room we were given was garbage. It is dated and has a view of other hotel rooms. I will never stay here again and it really makes me wonder about how JW’s as a brand are managed.


There Must Be Better Choices Elsewhere!

It is truly a sad state of affairs if this is the 'new normal' at Marriott. As other reviewers noted, don't expect this property to recognize your Titanium Elite status--just not going to happen. Yes, the lounge is open. But the lounge is closed on weekends. You receive 1,000 points or a ten dollar voucher in compensation. Ten bucks will get you a lunch at McDonalds down the street. Actually, not such a bad deal since the evening lounge is about the worst we've ever encountered in the USA. My wife observed that it was as bad as the Marriott Yu Garden lounge in Shanghai (which is pretty awful--although that property has a lounge with an incredible view). The evening experience at this Chicago hotel lounge was horrible. The food was terrible and the staff in the back were shouting at each other about some fight with management. We could not help but hear them! The breakfast was better. But nothing special. The room was OK, but the price was no bargain. Location? Well, its the same place its always been. Only now, many surrounding restaurants and businesses are shuttered. It appears that Marriott properties nation-wide suffered enormously during the 'lock down' due to Covid . And that is a tragedy. But should guests to pay for that loss? We suffered too! That is a stupid business strategy--they should be trying to win back hotel guests--not annoy them and drive them away. Truth be told, we will not stay at this hotel again. I give it three out of five stars because they earned it. This is a three star hotel of the post-pandemic era. And that's just not good enough for the price they expect guests to pay.


A wonderful stay in the Windy City! EXEC lounge is open!!! Yay!

Big bold rooms, quiet, clean and close to everything. Booked this hotel to be close to work and was happily rewarded with a great stay. With executive lounge status (it's open, friendly, coffee and fruit, and with great breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres!), I was really fortunate to receive exceptional hospitality from Katie and Heidi during my first night stay. Katie went out of her way to ensure I had something vegetarian/non dairy to eat when the Lounge was serving really beautiful looking meat options. She even checked to see that the yummy salad she had provided met my needs! In the morning, my delight was amplified from the service from Elizabeth who also went above and beyond to ensure I was well fed and ready for a big day of meetings. Throughout my stay, staff were cleaning the hotel/lounge to ensure it was safe and masks are required (they will provide a disposable mask, should you need one). Whatever the JW Marriott is doing to retain these exceptional hospitality staff....Bravo!!! Thanks for an amazing stay and for having an OPEN exec lounge as this is an amenity I truly appreciate when traveling. Gym is huge and open 5a - 10 p. It was totally empty at 5 am - very clean with water and towels provided. Tons of weights and machines.
