This hotel charges premium prices but provides the service of a two star hotel. We were there for four nights and, upon arrival, were informed that the room would be cleaned only once during our stay because of COVID.
Neither the safe in the room nor the refrigerator functioned, and the hallway on our floor was dirty; it obviously had not been vacuumed recently.
Nothing good to say

Lovely idea, terribly run.
I’ve stayed at the Louisville 21c which is a cool hotel with awesome staff. Chicago is a poor imitation and is run by staff who give the impression they care, but clearly couldn’t care less. My first room I had to move out of as the TV kept blinking on and off randomly. I was given a second room which had a broken shower which flooded the bathroom. After alerting the staff to the issue the following morning, I was assured it would be fixed, but returning to my room that night it wasn’t. Asked politely of reception staff once again and was assured it would be addressed, also asked for new towels and water in the room. Came home to find the shower was not fixed (a few turns of a screw would do fix it), towels literally tossed in the room and no water. Honestly would have better service at a 2 star hotel. Do not stay here, waste of money and the worst customer service, staff are very nice to your face but literally don’t care.
Very different concept...well done.

Great location near Michigan Avenue! From the moment you enter the “museum” get get a feeling that this is “someplace different”, yet classy and contemporary. With incredible room decor and attentive service, this is worth a visit. My only issue is the lack of any shelf space in a ver, very tight standup shower. You have to carry your soap, shampoo, conditioner in with you and hold it, or drop it to the floor of the shower to function within the four tight walls. Perhaps a shower caddy would be a nice upgrade!

Perfect location for exploring the city. The exemplary service of Tom the engineer is the reason for 5 stars. He came up immediately to check my TV which didn’t display, assessed the problem, and brought up a new TV which had arrived the day before. He was friendly, efficient, and professional—-outstanding service. My only criticism—-the dark, dreary hallways (at least on 11th floor).
A long time coming but well worth the wait

When we heard that 21c Museum Hotels were converting the old James we were excited. 21c has fantastic Museum Hotels and we love Chicago. Then covid hit and we had to wait longer than we anticipated but it was well worth the wait. Great rooms and location. Fantastic art and exhibition area. Best shower in the hotel business. Don't miss the chance to stay here. it will be a memorial experience
