We spent the night at Oak Grove Bed and Breakfast in early August. Our hostess, Mary Pickett, immediately puts her guests at ease. There are myriad ways to be busy -- walks around the beautiful land, sightseeing, and more, or one can simply relax and enjoy the slower pace of country life. The property, owned by Pickett's family, dates from the nineteenth century. Furnished with lovely antiques, it is equipped with all the most up-to-date conveniences. Electric vehicle charging stations, high speed internet, and solar powered air-conditioning and appliances give this charming old home a twenty-first century feel. Before we took our leave, Pickett served a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, and pancakes. Great time!
Oak Grove is the place to stay

We came here to enjoy a serene and quiet time as a family. We had that and so much more. We stayed for two nights and had the best time. Pickett and her family are the sweetest. The breakfast was amazing each day. Oak Grove has so much land to explore. Easy trail walks and bird sightings. Not to mention that this home has over 200 years of history and all still within the same family! It seems everyone in this town is so sweet. We left Oak Grove with long time friends.
A special place

We loved how this place is small, intimate, and family run. The interiors were comfortable, clean and well-appointed. Pickett also had good covid precautions in place, and wore masks the whole time. We were there last week, and my kids still ask about when we are going back to the “lady’s house”. They loved the tire swing and walks around the 400-acre plantation. Highly recommend!

We highly recommend Oak Grove Plantation. It is a lovely property and our room was VERY comfortable and complete with a library of antique books! Very cool. Our hostess, Pickett, was very accommodating in providing us "box breakfast" meals to take with us to track, even delivering them to us VERY early in the morning. She also provided excellent suggestions for dining nearby. She really went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.
Oak Grove Plantation B&B

The owners Pickett and Mike were exceptional, the house and the property exceeded our expectations. We are antique and Virginia history fans and there is an abundance of both at Oak Grove. Pickett has some interesting family history in this home and we thoroughly enjoyed walking some of the acreage. One of the highlights of our stay was the family cemetery. We asked for a dinner recommendation and dined at a fabulous restaurant in Halifax called the Molasses Grill in Halifax which was excellent.in trying to meet our requests. Our visit was for only one night but we had a wonderful time and will return.
