Very clean but lots of No’s

The hotel is very modern and extremely clean. The staff was very polite and welcoming.
It should be said that the web page did not mention that the optional breakfast canceled. As well there was no housekeeping for over night stays. The restaurant for dinner was also closed. Due to short staff the evening bar opened 2 hours later. The pool and hot tub area it seems has been closed for over a year for “maintenance” but trust me there was no work being done. I’m guessing that due to COVID and short staff issues it was easier to say work was being done to the pool.
Lots of no’s
HUGE Let Down

I have never experienced such a horrible stay at a hotel before. Our first night my husband and I noticed that we both seemed to be sinking towards the middle of the bed we were sleeping in, and neither of us are large people. The mini-fridge also was not cooling. Instead of waking up refreshed, we both had an awful night of tossing and turning, and woke up with back pain. Before leaving, we stopped by the front desk and told them about the min-fridge and bed. When we returned that evening, we found that the mini-fridge and mattress had been replaced. Thinking everything was fixed, we all showered for the evening. However, my husband and I quickly learned that we were still sinking into the middle, and decided to investigate ourselves. It turns out that the box spring was completely busted and offering NO support whatsoever. We called the front desk and requested a new box spring. After several minutes, the gentleman at the front desk called us back and informed us that they were sold out for the evening and had no other box springs. He did tell us we could move to a room that was freshly painted that day, so we told him we would come look at it to see how the fumes were. When we visited the room, we noted that this room had the same bed setup as our room and asked if we could just move one of the box springs from that room to our room. The gentleman at the desk advised us that we would have to make the change, because he was the only one there. We decided we would do it ourselves because it was easier than moving to a freshly painted room on the 1st floor. However, we were shocked to find that both box springs in this room were also broken! We decided to move the one with the least damage in hopes we could get a better night's sleep. We moved this box spring from the 1st floor to our 4th floor room, and the busted one from our room back down to the 1st floor. Thankfully this box spring worked out better. On our second to last night in the room, the air conditioner started making a loud humming noise (like a lawn mower was being used in the room) and not cooling well. The next morning my husband went to the front desk, and he was told they would try to fix it and if it could not be fixed they would move us to a new room. After our ordeal with the box springs, and seeing that it appeared the majority of them in this hotel are in the same damaged state, we decided we would just check out early instead of incurring yet another bad night's rest. We have stayed in other Cambria's before, and been extremely pleased. This one is not held to the same standards. We will never stay at this hotel again.
Was probably nice 10 years ago...

The pool area needed a remodel; the pool water was very cloudy and the bottom of the spa was rust covered as well as most of the metal surfaces in the pool area...needless to say we did not use the pool area for the four nights we were here. The lobby and bar area was clean but there was not free breakfast whatsoever. The whole hotel needs an update. It was not dirty but there are many other hotels in the area that are newer and with similar accommodations for the same price.
Reservation not honored

I reserved a hot tub suite for a romantic evening. When we checked in, the room we were given didn't have a hot tub. Apparently, that's my fault for reserving the room through Choice Hotels, their parent company. That's what the front desk told me. If I would have called the hotel directly, he assured me there would have been no mix-up. I suppose it was also my fault that it took me 26 minutes to make that reservation with the off shore call center employee who couldn't pronounce my name right, too.
I did not choose to stay after this, so I can't comment on the full experience, but I will say that what I saw did not impress me. The last four feet of sidewalk was not shoveled, so we had to trudge through snow to get to the entrance. We were only given one key card. They were experiencing a key card shortage, I was told in explanation. The furniture in the lobby was scratched and worn. The door behind the front desk had large blotches where the paint was completely worn away. The hallway smelled of cigarrettes. The king suite we were given felt claustrophobic. You could almost touch two walls simultaneously from anywhere in the room.
Just Not Worth the up-charge

I thought we’d splurge and upgrade from Comfort Suites. On the outside you’d think it was a good upgrade, but fancy finishes can’t hide poor quality construction. I’m not sure how old the facility actually is, but everything is starting to look beat up, from the doors in the halls to the curtains in the rooms. Good grief, the door to the closet can’t even open all the way?!? The worst however is to find that it is built with what I assume is wood construction so that every movement from the occupants above (including vacuum) radiates through the room above. When you have to get ear plugs to finally fall asleep around 1 am that is just unforgivable. This one won’t be on my list to stay at again.
