More about the hotel
The best hotel , hands down!!
I absolutly love staying there. The staff , especially the manager Gave went out of his way to make sure my stay was pleasurable and made me feel like I was welcome. The men that work behind the desk are just the best I've ever encountered while traveling. They literally go far and beyond your expectations and I want to thank all of them!! The hotel was clean and safe and I will definatly be back. Thank you Crowne Plaza!!!!
This is NOT your father's Crowne Plaza!
My daughter moved to Columbus to further her professional training at a well-known hospital in Columbus. We stayed her as a family after driving in to help her settle. This hotel was astoundingly unlike any Crowne Plaza that I've ever stayed in. First there are young people hanging around the entry laying on car hoods blasting music, smoking, etc. Just an extremely distasteful scene for the entrance to an upscale hotel. NO STAFF anywhere to be seen to protect the image and brand....just people hanging out like it's a downtown street corner. That was enough to almost have us turn around, but we checked-in and headed to our room. The hall to the elevators was disgusting. Food residue on the sticky floor. We take the elevator to our floor and the door opens and we're blasted in the face with the stench of pot!! Not only are people smoking in the non-smoking hotel, but they're smoking weed! Unbelievable! Is this a reality TV show?! So we put our bags in the room and head out to get a bite to eat and, frankly just to get out of the place. When we're heading out, I couldn't resist asking the front desk staff about it. "Is smoking allowed in this hotel?", "No", she replies. I relay our experience with smelling smoke. "...and you have to know that it's pot.". She looks at me, nods in the affirmative and basically just shrugs her shoulders! Well, at that point, we knew what we were in for. We almost used the whole experience as a family inside joke. See how many disturbing things you could find! Dirty diapers tossed in the parking lot, check. Piles of garbage tossed in the hall along with a bloody towel, check. A bellman's cart left in the furthest recesses of the parking lot, check. You couldn't make some of it up! Then, while we had no intention of using the pool, we see that it's being drained. Why? The passive aggressive sign on the first floor revealed why. One of the upscale guests completely ignored the 'no glass' rule and broke a bottle in or around the pool. So the entire pool gets closed and fully drained! I've probably forgotten some of it at this point (we stayed in July '20) as you just try to block it all out! If you've read this far, I'm sure that you can infer that I can't recommend that ANYONE stay here! This place should be evaluated by headquarters with an eye toward shuttering it. Avoid at all costs. P.S. I tried to upload photos, but this website claims it's uploading and does nothing! Maybe my next review will be of the TripAdvisor website!
Nice Property but Some Issues
First of all, the staff were extremely accommodating - from the front desk to housekeeping. A huge shout out for them. I like quite a bit of sugar in my coffee - as well as at least two to three cups a day - and I always got extra coffee and sugar with no problem. Second, this is NOT a pet friendly hotel - which I am ecstatic about! I'm super allergic to fuzzy friends, so not sneezing all the time is a big plus. Third, the room was quite clean. It also had a working fridge, which was a plus. [Not okay, though, was there is no microwave, so unless you're eating salads or something, you can keep things cold, but not heat any leftovers that need warmed up.] The king bed I had was comfy and had sufficient pillows. The desk and seating areas were nice, too - and I could sit either place to work on my computer. Internet worked fine. It was free - and since I was working remotely, it was really important that I could It was graduation, and there were a lot of older teens who were simply running amoc - and without masks. They were quite noisy, even during weeknights with nary a parent or guardian to be seen. On my floor and sometimes the elevator, the odeur of weed, its skunky smell stinking up the environs, was very present. Dudes - no smoking means NO SMOKING! Weed and, if applicable, crack should not be smoked on the premises! (And it goes without saying cigarettes are also a no no.) I cannot comment on the breakfast as it was not being served due to COVID-19 restrictions. The prices, therefore, were rock bottom - and so what would normally be charged for about 3 days was charged for a whole week. Someone had broken a lightshade in the ice room. I had to notify the front desk about it. Twice I think. The pool was open. However, it's so small that if a group of people come down to swim, there really isn't a good way to social distance. And, of course, one can't wear one's mask in the pool. Still, for all my whining and complaining, the stay was a pretty good one, and I was treated well by the staff.
Matt was great!
We had a great stay. We got in super late but Matt on the night shift was so accommodating. Gave us a little later check in which was helpful. He was awesome and definitely made our stay better :) all around everyone we came in contact with was so kind and took pride in their job. Can't say enough great things.
Most Excellent Service
Everything was perfection. Clean, relaxing, best nights sleep on the most comfortable bed. Outside Patio area outside my room with a pond. Was a great place to relax, think, and recharge. Issac checked us in and did an amazing job providing great customer service topped off with a few laughs to make us feel at home. Car decided to not start in the morning but the morning manager Devin made sure we were taken care of and got us on our way.
