Gorgeous historic residence!

My daughter and I enjoyed this stay very much! We had a business meeting in Chester for two days and it was the perfect location which allowed for us to travel around the area easily! we so much appreciated the historic nature of the building and the preservation thereof. It is in a very small quaint community due to Covid some restaurants were not in operation which was disappointing but I think things are starting to improve. I thought the rooms were very well appointed and the owner was meticulous in making sure everything matched the period of the property. My only one suggestion would be even though it is Covid I think since the property is advertised as a bed-and-breakfast they could’ve put out at least some pastries or some easy to pick up snacks in the morning I think that would’ve really topped off our stay!
Bugs and Poor Customer Service

Really disappointing experience with this hotel and "host" Mia. From the poor communication to the bugs in the room I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially someone looking for a "luxurious" experience as advertised on their website. I booked the "Garden Room" for a last minute work trip and tried several times prior to arrival to contact the inn to learn more about their arrival procedures - no one ever answered the phone and the mailbox was full so you could not leave a message. When we arrived there was an envelope taped to the front door with directions to the room. We followed the directions and arrived to find the front door of the room covered in hundreds of small bugs...we did our best to sneak in to avoid any bugs entering with us, however, when we entered the room was already populated with many small bugs around all the lights. We tried shutting lights off but after spending about 20 minutes in the room, decided we could not stay in a bug-filled room for the night. The arrival note indicated to please email any concerns after business hours -- and since it was almost 10pm, that is what I did. I let Mia know we were not comfortable sleeping with bugs and would not be staying the night. I called and texted several times the next morning and only at 11am did Mia return my email and basically blame us for not following the right procedure -- saying I should have texted her and that all she found were "a few dead flies in the windowsills". When spending over $300 on a 4 star hotel I would expect to find any bugs anywhere (personally). I then called (again) and emailed Mia asking if she could please call me so we could talk about the issue - my husband also tried to reach her several times. She finally TEXTED back mid-day and offered for us to come back if we left the lights off and she vacuumed the flies out of the windowsill. Again, I asked if we could speak over the phone and she simply never replied. We have since made several attempts to talk to Mia over the phone but she has not responded to us. I know that running a B&B is not easy and often things are not 100% in place, however, having worked for several years at a bed and breakfast I know that the basic rules of hospitality and customer service still apply. I wish Mia had been willing to talk with us over the phone to work something out. I would save yourself the disappointment of staying in a musty, buggy, overpriced room.
Less than Expected

The house itself is beautiful and our room was clean. Due to Covid breakfast is cancelled and our friends could not visit our room. Unfortunately this information was not made available to us ahead of time. There was a letter taped to the door with our keys. Our cell phones did not work very well and the room/Inn did not have any printed information about the town, etc. Nothing within walking distance was open until 10:30 on a Saturday, so we had to drive to get coffee in the morning. The room did not provide any extra pillows, blankets, etc. The mattress was very hard, especially in the middle and sagged on each side. The thermostat was controlled else where and the windows do not open. The room was very stuffy and quite warm on the first night, so not a lot of sleep. Second night was a bit cooler due to the outside temperature being roughly 20 degrees cooler. We have stayed in many Inns and this one was just a disappointment for the price. We could have stayed with friends, or in another local community, but chose this based on it's ratings, so we were very disappointed and left feeling as though we wasted a lot of money. This could be a charming place with a bit more effort put into guests' comforts. I did find a mini fridge in a common room that was plugged in, so the snacks I brought were able to stay chilled. Again, there just wasn't any information about anything.
Lovely weekend away from it all

While visiting Boardman House, we met two couples who make this the destination for an annual winter getaway. No wonder - The rooms at this friendly, sophisticated inn are beautifully appointed, and the small town is charming.

One of the most beautiful rooms we’ve ever stayed in! The pics don’t do it justice. The house is absolutely stunning. Mia was a wonderful host. She also make the best French toast in the world! We will definitely visit again.
