Large Motel 6
Spent one night at the Motel 6 in Coos Bay on a recent trip down the Oregon coast. We had spent the night at another Motel 6 a couple of night before, and this one was a little pricier. The front desk clerk was friendly on check-in and she was able to honor our downstairs request. The room was larger than our last Motel 6, but also did not include a microwave or minifridge, we were just too cheap to pay the extra. The room was OK, with plenty of parking, but alas, the bed was not the most comfortable. The bathroom sink drain took forever, and the bathtub drain was not much better. The motel was convenient to fast food in the area, and one of the casinos was just down the street. Again, the motel requires a photo ID for all adults staying in the room.
Nice room with a few things to be aware of
I chose Motel 6 based on price, kitchen, and dog friendly. There was a misunderstanding on my part...I thought I booked one of the rooms with a kitchen, however it only had a mini fridge and microwave. (Something you might want to clarify at booking if you plan to cook.) The room was clean and nicely decorated, especially for a Motel 6. There were only a few issues. First, the freezer badly needed defrosted. It was barely usable. Next, one of the sinks drained very slowly. It wasn’t a huge problem since there were two sinks. Also the shower lacked pressure. Lastly, we had a room with connecting doors and the guest next to us was blaring the TV late at night. We finally called the front desk and they turned it down some. The walls were so thin we could hear conversations from both of the rooms next to us. If you’re a light sleeper you might want to use earplugs or find a different place to stay. Overall it met our needs for an affordable, dog friendly Coast town getaway.

This is by far one of the best Motel 6s, I've stayed at. The staff go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable. Kyle Jones is the best GM. You allow pets especially cats to stay for free. WAY TO GO KYLE JONES AND STAFF
fire alarm debacle
HI I'm writing to warn other families about the horrible experience my family had while staying at the coos bay motel 6. On our first night someone pulled the fire alarm. Which scared our 2 kids one which is special needs. There was no evacuation plan posted and the staff person on duty did not know how to call 911 in was more interested in giving out refunds then checking on there guest. It took 30 minutes be a guest called 911. The fire department had to jury rig the fire alarm to get it to go off. Good news they did refund our 3 night stay. Also the floors where dirty and the bathroom sink leaked.
Old and Isolated
Nothing to recommend this place except fairly clean room and OK bed. Room is as bare as can be. Hotel is on noisy highway 101, yet not within walking distance of any restaurant or convenience store that does not open before 3pm. No place to store bags if you arrive early or depart after check out.
