Terrible service

Reviewed 23 november, 2021

Terrible service. I had been to hotel previously for spa, wedding and dinner and it is such a beautiful hotel. I was really looking forward to staying but I could not be more disappointed. I understand a lot of staff were new and we were understanding of many mistakes made (which I won't even list as it will take too long) but it was one too many for us. The last straw was being charged for spa treatments and having to convince the girl on reception that we did not have any spa treatments she then put my friend on the phone to the spa to 'explain the situation'. It was so unprofessional. My card was also charged with the pre authorised fee even though I asked more than once if money would be taken and I was told no. I am now out of pocket nearly 300 for at least 7 working days. I called the hotel once I noticed this charge. The manager called me back a few days later and I got no satisfaction from him. He was polite and apologised for the mistake but it was very obvious that he did not care about my business even though I had spent money at his hotel and bar and was considering having my wedding there but after the service I definitely won't now. He did not seem to mind really and did not try to convince me to change my mind re wedding. They obviously get enough business that mine is not important to them. I am disappointed that he did not even offer a dinner voucher or money off a stay or anything at all to try and make up for all of the mistakes made. I will never stay again and I wouldn't recommend anyone to.

Beautiful, peaceful hotel set in grounds that are well wortha walk around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were super comfortable and the food was delicious. Couldn't fault it. Will definitely visit again.

An amazing team of people in an amazing hotel. From the minute you walk into reception, you are made feel welcome. Stunning grounds and gardens with a play area for children. Excellent food catering for all tastes.

Always great to see old and new side by side at the Maryborough

If you can't own a period property like the 1700s Maryborough House (which I once visited before it was a hotel, and, funnily enough, less posh), the next best thing is to stay there and appreciate the grounds, the setting, the calm (as a guest) and the staff.
