Albergo Motta

Beautiful albergo, the hosts were amazing, very helpful, kind and generous. There are a few restaurants and shops on the same street, with a big mall that opened not too far. The rooms were very clean with AC. No WiFi in the rooms, only lobby. The area is pretty quiet with lots of parking.

On booking.com the pic is of the car park, it should be of the Island opposite, it is the quintesential View. We had snacks on the terrace which they would not take any money for as we were up and gone by 5 for Christo so did not have breakfast. This a place we will be back too.

What makes Albergo Motta such a lovely place to stay are its delightful staff, who are extremely accommodating and hospitable. Barbara, the owner, is very kind and really goes out of her way to make sure her guests are looked after. This is a b & b not a five star hotel, but its simple, comfortable rooms, each with a big balcony, are great value for money - hence my Excellent rating. The restaurant really takes pride in its delicious Piemontese cuisine and is always full of locals. They have some excellent wines and with a four course menu plus wine, water and coffee for just ten euros it's also fantastic value. Motta is a friendly, peaceful village with a refreshingly 'normal' vibe, always buzzing on friday and weekends with locals out and about on the little main street going to eat, drink and chat. It's not particularly touristy but a good base from which to explore a beautiful area of Piemonte. It's tiny but has banks, a petrol station, local shops and restaurants. Close to the motorway it's easy to get to (under an hour from Turin airport) and in ten minutes you can get to the local town of Asti, or in twenty the historic city of Alba where every November there is a famous truffle festival. Five minutes down the road is the beautiful village of Costigliole D'Asti, with its castle, Sunday market and yet more great local restaurants. All in all if you want to experience some ordinary, friendly italian village life and come back to somewhere where you will be made to feel at home after a long day of exploring Piemonte's vineyards, historic villages and beautiful scenery, Albergo Motta is a great place to stay.

I was looking for a place to stay while driving from the coast to the Italian lakes, and chose Albergo Motta on a whim. It's not in a particularly interesting town, but its location midway to the lakes was perfect. And what a find! For a mere 40 euros HALF BOARD I had a great room - clean, bright, modern, double bed, big bathroom, private large balcony with table and chairs - and an excellent 4 course dinner (plus breakfast) for the price. Absolutely unbeatable value - especially when the food was excellent, portions generous, and the owners were so absolutely charming. You have to find a reason to stay here - maybe for several days to visit the neighbouring towns and their castles?

Sono stata all'albergo Motta a dicembre 2019, insieme al marito e la nostra bimba, per poter poi andare a vedere i mercatini di Natale di Govone, che sono a un tiro di schioppo dall'albergo. Siamo stati molto bene: camera confortevole, letto comodissimo, bella terrazza accessibile direttamente dalla camera, location tranquilla. La signora Barbara, che gestisce molto professionalmente l'hotel, è anche una persona squisita, tanto che quando le ho detto che mi sarebbe piaciuto far incontrare a mia figlia Babbo Natale, in quattro e quattr'otto ha organizzato tutto. Mi ha spiegato che è abituata a gestire servizi su misura sulla base dei desideri dei clienti. La cosa che mi ha colpita è che abbia fatto la stessa cosa per una famiglia con problemi, senza che fossero ospiti dell'albergo, e senza chiedere nulla in cambio. Mi è sembrata una persona davvero con un grande cuore, oltre che davvero impegnata nel suo lavoro e nel farlo bene e con dedizione. L'albergo ha anche una piacevole reception (in tutto l'albergo si capisce che la titolare è architetto) dove è dedicato uno spazio alle informazioni turistiche. Comodo anche il parcheggio. Insomma, ci torneremo sicuramente!
