What was I thinking

It was a last minute trip. My cousin and his wife came into town, and I wanted to show them the charm of crested butte. I was happy that Forest Queen has 2 bedrooms open over the 4th holiday. Now I know why. The rooms were shabby, leaky faucet. But that wasn’t the worse part. IT WAS LOUD!!!! I still hear the bass in my head from the music next door. Til 2 AM! AND The street activity from the smokers from the bars. The owner of the hotel was kind enough to give us our money back for the second night!

Perhaps if you had been camping for 10 days, without a shower and sleeping on the ground, the Forest Queen would be fit for a queen. It is in a fantastic location. Just know that "no frills" means falling onto the bed when you open the door, one window that opens about 12 inches, little air circulation, no soap (it showed up the next day), and a little table fan. We wanted location and inexpensive which we got! And after four days we developed a love/hate relationship with the old queen, even with Liz the resident ghost! The lemon ricotta pancakes at the grill downstairs were pretty tasty!

Sometimes old can be quaint - but in this case, old is just really shabby. It might be okay for a youth hostel, but definitely not worth the price charged. No amenities at all, no number to reach anyone - basically a miserable experience.

I stayed one night and got a walk-in rate of $89. The room was above the restaurant and had a queen bed with window facing the raging river and had a shared bathroom and no tv. I was there during a heat wave and there were two fans in the room with the window open and fans going it was a very comfortable nights sleep. The hotel is in a great location and if you have a car and need overnight parking try to get close to hotel on the side streets. No overnight parking on Elk street as your car will be towed.
Fantastic staff and amazing restaurant

I was short on options when choosing forest queen. What a treat it turned out to be! Great location right opposite the shuttle stop; engaging passionate hands-on owner in Doug; friendly staff who Doug obviously looks after well. It’s nothing fancy but it did me just fine. Stayed 6 nights and was sorry to leave. Highly recommend the place!
