A lovely base for a spring break in the West Country

We really enjoyed our 5 day stay at this boutique hotel and restaurant last week. The food was excellent and so good that we ate there on three evenings. It was lively, evidently the best place in town and we found all the staff to be very friendly and efficient at all times. The room was interesting with shabby chic design and furnishings. The bed was very comfortable and although we were on the road side of the hotel is was not noisy at night. Definitely to be recommended

We stayed as an extended family, grandad, granny, daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren in two rooms on Good Friday in order to celebrate two birthdays. From the first contact by telephone to discuss the booking to checkout we had nothing but great service. The rooms were nice and clean with great bathrooms and the food was superb. At dinner we were a party of 8 and four of those were vegetarians but everyone enjoyed their meal. We have no worries about recommending this hotel to others

It was a last minute booking as covid (not ours) had scuppered our original plans. All the places we've stayed before or wanted to stay in the area were booked and we just happened to stumble upon the Crooked Swan. What a find! Everyone was super friendly, the decor is great, the bedroom set up for the kids was perfect and the food was fantastic - we eat out way too much and this was some of the best food we've had in ages. It's so rare to get all this right. We loved it and will be back!

Good food, abhorrent service

Myself and 3 friends had a table booked in advance and arrived at 20:00 hours. It took more than 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken, they didn't have the bottle of wine in stock that we ordered but the waitress didn't know this when we ordered. No problem as we accepted a replacement. However there was an even longer wait for them to take our food ordee. We were going to have mains and dessert. One of the meals came out approx 10 minutes after the other 3 and they blamed it on 'the system' rather than accepting responsibility for their error. After finishing our mains we requested the dessert menu, however by 21:35 hours no one had taken our order so we asked for the bill instead. That took just over 10 minutes to arrive too. We settled our bill at 21.43 having only been served 1 course (and only 1 drink) within 1 hour 43 minutes. There were some empty tables so they can't even blame it being that busy! They didn't compensate in any way for the diabolical service or even apologise. Awful. The only positives are that the food that we did manage to get tasted nice and the ambience of the place was relaxed.

We stayed at the Crooked Swan Hotel on 25 March 2022. Wow! Just WOW! What an incredible hotel. Quirky and eclectic mix of furniture and props....including a flying swan above the bar! Our room was fantastic....huge bed and oh so comfy! Massive bathroom. We were over the main street but didn't have any issue with traffic noise. Very good night's sleep.......followed by breakfast.....where to begin...extensive choice of breakfasts....we both had full English and I chose fried bread....oooh yum! Golden and crunchy blocks like a sexy Jenga! We will definitely stay here again whenever we find ourselves in the area...highly recommended
