Ignore the couple of moaning Minnie's I stayed here for 2 nights as a base for walking with a friend and you won't find better. the twin room was lovely. all the staff so welcoming. I forget the ladies name who was in charge but she was seriously good at her job. I have 30 years in hospitality and I would employ her in a second. Attentive, quick, knowledgeable and very hard working. Both Monday and Tuesday night they were busy and she was on it - huge congratulations to an industry professional. Food - cancelled our reservation elsewhere for the 2nd night and ate here again as for the food was that good. They have a new chef and he's brilliant. All unbelievably good value for money especially in these times. Although nothing to do with the inn but this is our 2nd time in Crickhowell and the town is just lovely, there's everything you need, plus more and the people - arhh the people its so friendly so if you are looking for a base in South Wales Crickhowell as a town would be hard to beat and this would be the place to stay. 2 extras points - we put our food and drinks onto our room and when I went to pay there was no service charge added so please make sure you tip. Also up on the side streets off the main room is a little charitable work shop selling refurbished garden tools all profits to their charity so please support.

Overnight Stay
Opinión escrita el 22 de agosto de 2022
We booked a family room for ourselves and two granddaughters. The room was spacious with large double and two single comfy beds with clean quality linen. Bathroom spotless with good bath and hand towels. A quirky lovely family room with small balcony and steps leading to beer garden. We had dinner in the evening which was enjoyable, not cordon bleu, but as expected in a country inn and the service was good. Unfortunately, breakfast was not a good experience. We were down for breakfast in plenty of time as we had a long drive ahead through Wales for a holiday in Caernarfon. The service was very bad as we sat for 3/4 hr waiting for our breakfast. One of our granddaughters had to wait this long just for a bowl of porridge. Our cooked breakfast was poor, bacon hard and dry, poached egg unrecognisable. I suspect that staffing problems may be responsible for the above and it is hoped these can be sorted. It is such a lovely place to stay but breakfast was not a good start to the day with our long drive to North Wales

Disappointing

Arrived at 6:30 for dinner, left at 9:15 after 2 courses!! Almost 3 hours for a no better than average meal with, sadly, poor service. Had to leave the table to ask for the bill (not a major issue) then again 15 minutes later to actually pay as all the waiting staff seemed to disappear. I must say, when they did tend to us they were polite but that was nowhere near enough when paying for an evening meal. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but this establishment needs to up its game considerably. Sorry!

Dissapointing

Been here before (pre Covid) and were impressed by the food (not the service) This time the food was not good. Fatty lamb (which the staff confirmed) no offer of recompense, a glass of wine would have been something. Service not brilliant. Won’t be going back.
