Shocking in everyway
We called to book as we did an impromptu weekend away. I negotiated €140 for the night. The room was exactly as everyone describes...an out building up 2 floors. Tired. Outdated. One of the worst rooms I e ever had the misfortune to stay in. Should have checked trip advisor. Breakfast at €18 euro a head was terrible. Service non existent. Manager rude and then my bill came to £178!!! I complained so much they gave €30 euro back. We ended up going to a lovely village the next night...but went into another of this chain of hotels. Avoid them. Even local restaurants said how bad and overpriced they are!!
A disappointing stay, wish I had read the reviews before booking
We booked a 'superior' room based on the images on line. This room was far from 'superior', when we complained we were told we had been upgraded already. We were in an attic room !!! The bed collapsed and the shower hose was leaking. Complained again, my husband had to help workman fix the problems. The front of the hotel looked great but the rooms are desperately in need of refurbishing. The Spa was locked up and looked derelict. Curtains were hanging from broken rails on hotel windows. Following our complaint the man on the desk who booked us in 'tactically' ignored us for the rest of the stay. The breakfast on the morning that we left was like a sitcom as a member of staff was phoning staff inside to open the doors. We couldn't wait to leave.
Wish I'd taken note of the reviews
An expensive stay for a mediocre room and breakfast. The staff are off handsnd uninteredted (except for the lady at breakfast) and don't speak one word of English. If you sell yourself as a conference place I would expect some level of English. We tried German too but that was a no go so hot by on our pigeon French. The old farm building itself is still beautiful. My family used to stay here in the late 50s early 60s and this was a nostalgia trip. I think they should state that guests rooms are mostly in other buildings. Our building was up two steep flights of garden stairs (I had mentioned in reservation about bad arthritis so fewest stairs needed). The room was very tired, cobwebs covered the light fittings. No bed frames or head boards just poorly fitting mattresses plonked on a base that was smaller so the mattress moved around. It was hot even with the window open so was glad that the weather wasn't too hot. The whole room just had a feeling of neglect and no style. The car parks fill up very quickly. Breakfast was nothing special with not that much choice. All in all very disappointing especially compared to other hotels we stayed at on the same trip for half the price of this one. Save your money and go somewhere else
Nice rooms
Stayed here for one night on way down to Normandy Beach's. The room was very good and nice and clean . The bathroom was pretty good to. Its a nice old style hotel in very lovely gardens. There was parking on site.We eat in the garden under the apple trees. Nice place to stay. There is also a Spa on site Could have had the breakfast but did not think it would be worth 17.5 Euros which personally I think is a bit expensive, otherwise great. .
What a disappointment
We visited this hostellerie three years ago and loved Today made a return visit and choose the menu of the day at 27€50. Started well with an aperitif then a starter, my friend had pate and I had a cassoulet of mussels. Then what a long wait for the next dish. When it arrived was fine but nothing special. Finally a tutti frutti, two small scoops of ice cream and 5 small chunks of fruit. Finally coffee arrived followed much later by my friend’s digestif. A very ordinary meal with mediocre service. What a disappointment
