DO NOT STAY HERE! OUR SAFETY AND HEALTH WERE IN DANGER!
Where to begin... I made reservations on December 30th to stay at this hotel. I called that day saying if it was possible to get a nice room because I planned on proposing to my girlfriend on New Years. I spoke with a manager and he said he would put us on the top floor in RM 615, looks over the lake it’s a nice room, okay perfect. We arrive at 4 PM on December 31st, staff was nice and said oh yeah I remember you, putting you in RM 615. Gives us the keys and we head up to the room. Get to the room and it hasn’t been cleaned there’s people’s belongings in the room. We go down stairs tell them that and they go “oh sorry about that, we’ll put you in a temporary room, have it cleaned and then you can go back in that room.” An employee by the name of Austin goes “we have no cleaning staff they left for the day so I’ll try my best to go clean it for you.” We said okay. He grabs a cleaning cart and heads up to the room. We grab our stuff and go to RM 520, the temporary room we were supposed to wait in. While waiting we head down to the pool area where our friends were. Get to the elevator and the elevator stops at level 4, Austin gets on the elevator and goes to the front desk obviously not cleaning the room. We wait an hour and go to the front desk seeing if the room was cleaned. Austin says “we’re busy I didn’t have time to clean it so you’ll just be staying in RM 520.” Well we didn’t have a choice so just said okay. We hang out by the pool, then go upstairs to our friends room and celebrate New Years. We celebrated and said hey let’s go back to our room and have a good time. We all head up to our room 520 and the safety lock is latched on the door and the tv is on. I knock and someone says hello. My safety was being jeopardized and I felt in danger at this point. A woman around the age of early 20’s opens the door. I walk into the room and my girlfriends and I’s belongings are all scattered around the room. This girl went through our backpacks, our wallets, everything. Everything was every where in the room. At this point I am beyond angry. I tell the girl to get her belongings and to get out of the room. She goes I understand if you feel uncomfortable please just let’s all just calm down. You could tell she was either on something or drank things. Which she drank our alcohol, there was a cup of ours in the sink that smelled like Jack and coke, and 18 of our seltzer drinks were missing. After all heading down to the front desk, no one was there. I head back to the room where I find a young Mexican girl that worked for the hotel. She was the 3rd shift person taking over for the night. She’s on the phone with the GM Renee, telling him what happened. She had no idea what was going on. I am beyond upset at this point and she says we’re moving rooms again, to RM 526. I said no we’re not moving rooms again. This is your guys fault this is the second time we would be moving rooms so no we are not. In a loud pissed off matter I tell her this is all BS and you guys need to work on your communication. She gets upset walks away crying and heads back down stairs. She goes the GM will be here in an hour. At this point my health is being questioned because a random person was laying in our bed, who knows if she has COVID. My security is being questioned I had a random person in our room going through things, I don’t feel safe what so ever, I feel in danger and they did absolutely nothing to make that better. Around 1 AM rolls around and the cops show up. We all head down to the lobby and explain to the cops what happens. They take our name, birthday and address down and then leave. Around 2 AM everyone heads back to their room. My girlfriend and I say well we aren’t sleeping on this bed let’s go get new linens. We go down to the lobby and the 3rd shift Mexican girl and assuming the GM Renee are outside having a smoke break. They come in and the first thing he says to us is “are you in RM 520.” We reply yes why. He goes you need to grab your things and leave right now. I go excuse me. He goes you disrespected my employee, leave now. I go we came down to apologize to her. I took my frustration out of her and wanted to apologize. So I apologized, she accepted. We go we just want new linens, he gave us attitude the entire time and was passive aggressively apologized for their mess up. We explained to him what all happened and he goes “sorry, we’ll comp your room.” Yeah that’s the least you can do. He gets us new linens, and around 5 AM we are up in our room. I couldn’t fall asleep because my health was in danger, my safety was in danger, I didn’t feel safe and the GM did nothing to make things right.
One night stay.
We had a weeding to attend and decided to stay at this hotel. Check in was quick and easy and the people at the front desk were welcoming and friendly. The hotel lobby was extremely clean, our room was very clean as well. Definitely would stay here again if the need arises. Only bummer the bar was not open and we wanted to get a drink before we had to leave for the wedding.
Good stay
I recently stayed here for a couple nights while moving. Check-in process was very quick. The remodeled room/bathroom was spacious and nicely done with a fridge, Keurig and flat screen. Bed was very comfortable. Despite signage everywhere touting their full service bar and restaurant, neither were open. There was a small bar/restaurant operating on "the Deck". Limited menu but burgers, grilled chicken sandwich and chicken ceasar wrap were pretty good and not at all expensive. Staff service was very good. The seating area appeared tired and could use some housekeeping attention, leaves and dead bugs blow in from outside. This property has been open a long time in the area and has great employees/service. Hoping they make it thru this pandemic!
New Look and Great Staff
We’ve been coming to the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn for our annual event for 15 years and will be coming back this year. The hotel has new management and they’re updating the banquet halls and rooms and it was looking very nice. Can’t wait to see what they’ve done in the last year and looking forward to working with the great staff again.
Love
This hotel did some awesome remodeling! I guess it’s still in the process but nothing noisy here tonight! Love the lighting in the bathroom and this updated furniture. Bed is comfy with many pillow options. For some reason I always arrive very late at this hotel and I appreciate how they leave the restaurant open later.
