excellent boutique hotel

This small and modern hotel is situated in absolutely the ideal place for those visiting Cusco for a few days or on a stopover to Machu Picchu. It is literally a 5-8 minute walk to Plaza de Armas (the historical centre of Cusco) and an even shorter walk to Qoricancha, the must-see Inca temple. An ATM machine is next door, and an excellent cafe across the street.
The independent hotel has a small but dedicated staff who man the front desk and provide a generous breakfast. But the nicest thing about the hotel are its spacious rooms (I visited 4 rooms and all were of equally high standard). Spacious and comfortable, and with more character than that of the typical hotel chains. One downside is that most rooms do not open to the outside but to internal spaces that provide daylight but no views. That actually does not matter because the outside view would only have been of the main road or of neighbouring buildings.
Don't come near!

We where twice in this hotel.
First night 2 persons and we got a wonderful room and a buffet breakfast.
Second stay, a few days later we were 3 person, we got a smaller room with no windows, the air was moldy and stuffy, there was no buffet breakfast!
Ok hotel in a good location

We stayed in this hotel twice while in Cusco, Peru (before and after visiting Machu Picchu) and were not very impressed. First, the good, the hotel is located in Av. del Sol, right beside Qorikancha and walking distance to Plaza de Armas and other main sites; the hostess lady at breakfast was there everyday and she was always welcoming and very nice; mostly everything else was decent but not impressive. Now, the not so good: we booked our trip on Expedia and the pic of the room shown in the reservation was wrong, we asked and the pic shown is actually the suite but that's not what we had booked and we felt deceived; also good luck on who's working in the afternoon after the cleaning staff leaves as we needed toiletries and towels a different day and some staff would help others not so much; again in the booking, it said we had free buffet breakfast but they don't even do that at this hotel and, while some items are included with your breakfast, you actually need to pay for certain items on the menu if you want those, again deceiving from the booking part; finally the rooms have direct access to the front desk, meaning you will hear as people enter the building at the reception desk (the downstairs room was a bit better as there is a glass in between the room and the front but the upstairs rooms are completely open to the front desk area).

We spent 4 nights at the Atiq hotel. This modern hotel is well located, less than 10 minutes of the Plaza de Armas. The room was spacious and large, well-decorated and very confortable. The bathroom was fine. Even if the hotel is on a main street, Avenue El Sol, it is quiet and calm. We never heard any noise. The staff, either at the reception (Guillaume and ?) or, at the restaurant (Angela) were professional, very nice and helpful. The breakfast, à la Carte, was just delicious and offer a wide variety of food. For the lunch or a coffee break, there is a great bakery and coffee shop, just on the other side of the street. I highly recommanded the Atiq hotel. It was perfect from the beginning to the end.
Home away from home - Excellent choice for us

We are still in the middle of our stay at Atig Boutiquet hotel, but now is as good a time as ever to write a review.
We will be staying at the hotel 3 different times for a total of 6 nights. The hotel has met, and exceeded my expectations after reading some of the previous reviews. I was very nervous booking the hotel for the 3 different times as we would be stuck if it had proved not to meet our needs. But I have been gladly surprised!
Room: We booked the Junior Suite Twin room, which has a separate outside jacuzzi/spa tub.
1) The room is quite large, though the only unfortunate aspect is that it has two double beds and not a king-size bed. But still the size of the room, the closet space, the furniture are quite sufficient.
2) True, the desk is located under the television, but that does not pose a problem for us.
3) We realized the room did not have 2 bedside tables so we adapted the use of one of the small tables to a bedside table.
4) The linen used are of a good quality and without marks.
5) The bathroom is of a decent size, and comes with a robe, slippers, toiletries and free water. The only negative here, which is minor to us, is that the shower door does make a loud noise when closing, and now and then there is a strong smell from the sewer.
6) The separate private spa/jacuzzi tub and space are a very nice touch especially when it is sunny.
7) The room comes with a minibar/fridge and coffee and tea making supplies (which for us sets a hotel apart!)
The staff of the hotel are all friendly, helpful and very professional. They speak sufficient English to communicate with us, and we use it as an opportunity to practice our basic Spanish.
While the breakfast is not buffet style, it is actually very good, expansive and adequate. We are able to make choices from the menu, and add various things to it all the time. Examples are: eggs, fruit, granola, yoghurt, bread, jam, juices, ham, cheese....and the list goes on! They are also willing to prepare a breakfast box for us if we will be leaving for the day early.
The hotel is about an 8 minute walk to Plaza de Aramas. While the street outside can be busy, we do not hear the noise from our hotel room, and it is not filled with dodgy characters, but just regular visitors and locals going about their daily business. We have found several bake shops nearby, a bakery, and food marts. We have found the location perfect for us, as it is very easy to get a taxi to anywhere and just a short walk from any of the restaurants or bars near the main squares.
This is a hotel I will sure return to over and over again!
