Nice enough
We stayed in the dorm then also the private room. The dorm room was spacious, clean, comfortable and had lockers. The private room was same and had a small wardrobe for hanging clothes which was useful. It was a quiet hostel which suited us. The hot water didn't always work, so we did have to ask for it to be fixed a couple of times. A little inconvenient but the staff were always quick to resolve this issue. I think either the gas had run out or the boiler was just temperamental. The staff were very friendly and helpful with information for the area. Simple breakfast, usual standard for hostels in South America. Small kitchen with minimal pots/pans, fine as long you're the only one wanting to cook. Wifi OK, was better in the courtyard than in the rooms. Good location near San Pedro market and tour agencies and not too busy/noisy street. Free luggage storage if you're off to visit Machu Picchu etc for a few days. Good value for the price paid.
One of the best hostels i've been!
GREAT hostel! Quiet, clean, great wifi, there is always hot water in shower(rare in cusco) and it has a small kitchen. Staff is kind and helpful and the hostel is close to the center by walking. Very recomanded!!
Deceptively positive reviews. The worst weve stayed in in cusco
I don't like to rate things one star, but really this places scrapes 2. We reserved using Hostel world, and reserved a twin room, but when we arrived (after check in time) not only were we given a double room, but then had to wait about half an hour for the triple room we were eventually given to be cleaned. The room itself was large, too large for 2 people, with a 'juliet balcony's with poorly fitting windows so you could hear the street all night long, and it allowed cold air in. Despite the half an hour clean, the only things that were fresh in the room were the fitted sheets, the blankets, and duvet topper were dirty and marked. An additional blanket in the room was also dirty and smelled of vomit and nail varnish remover. There was no bath mat, the water was of variable temperature, sometimes sclading you, other times freezing you. Breakfast was basic but okay, including bread, jam, butter, yoghurt and a cereal, however despite saying it was included, eggs were extra, 5sol for fried and 8sol for scrambled. Overalls we didn't look forward to returnin to the hostel in the evening, the WiFi was rubbish and I didn't enjoy it. This may explain why there are so few reviews on hostel world.
One of the best hostel I have stayed in
I have stayed in quite a few hostels around the world and I have to say Sumayaq to me is the best.I liked it because it attracts the more mature and respectful crowd( no party animal or bar crawl people)Generally pretty quiet and food that is left in the fridge won't be touched even though it's not labeled. I appreciate the Sumayaq staffs very much because I was not feeling that great during my stay and I requested them to buy me some honey and lemon which they promptly did :) Shower is always hot, my room and common area is always keep clean, you get to use the kitchen , there's free breakfast of bread, jelly, cheese, yogurt , cereal and juices in the morning and also laundry is provided at 4 soles per kilo. Wifi is also very good.Lastly they also provide pretty affordable tours around the area if your are interested. If I ever come back to Cusco, will definately stay here again.Highly recommended
Great WiFi with a wonderful atmosphere
Hot showers, great kitchen, friendly staff that treat you like a family guest rather than a tourist, Comfortable beds, Great wifi that even worked great in our room! I also loved the outdoor garden area that is covered in a way that it always looks bright in the garden even when it is raining. (you can sit in the couch outside and have no idea that its raining). Its so quaint and lovely! I stayed at several hostels in Cusco and this was my favorite!
