More about the hotel
A NIce Hotel in Downtown
A good hotel overall. The room was clean, they offered cleaning services by request due to covid and the one time we requested they got it done. I loved the decor of the room, especially the big shower with a window. The hotel had a strict mask policy , even asking people to wear them in the gym, which was kind of uncomfortable but keeps everyone safe I guess. We chose to park nearby rather than at the hotel as it was cheaper but on the final day when we needed to pack up to car the guy at the front desk let us park there for a few hours free of charge. The only small problem we had was that the room had very thin walls so when our neighbors got a bit rowdy one night we could hear everything, but it wasn't a huge issue.
DO NOT VISIT!!!!
When staying there the rooms were so humid tropical plants could live there so comfy. As well as finding roaches under the desk and in the bathroom. I had to shower with my shoes on like it was prison because i’m sure they did more sanitary cleaning in prison! Then getting my car window smashed in and a bunch of my stuff stolen not even 20 Min after leaving pretty sure it had to do with staying here! HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE. Its not safe!!
Great service from first call
Great service from when I called on the phone and Nicole who answered and helped me with my questions and reservation. To Anthony at night taking care of my requests and a very nice smile at check out from Sharmagne!I was staying to in the city for my interview the next day and the entire staff listened, helped, and exceeded my expectations!
Unsafe and Unsanitary experience
The hotel graciously let us check in early but once inside the room was very chilly. We attempted to adjust the temperature, but it continued to blow out cold air. My boyfriend went to the front desk as no one answered when we called from our room. They sent a tech up, but after he left the room got extremely warm and seemed to only go to extremes. We let the front desk know and they suggested we switch rooms. After that everything was 100% better and we were comfortable. Unfortunately, on Saturday our stay took a drastic and frightening turn. Around 1 pm we left the hotel for a day site seeing around Dallas. We returned to the Aloft a little after 8 pm Saturday evening. Upon walking to our room door we immediately noticed something was off. Sitting outside our door was a randomly thrown hand towel. We didn't think very much of this because the other room doors in our corner of the hotel were very close to one another so we figured it belonged to another guest as we knew we didn't leave it there. Then once we entered our room I noticed that the ironing board was knocked over. Our senses immediately heightened and we began to survey the room. Right next to the bed on the nightstand was a dirty Pittsburgh Steelers hat!! My boyfriend exclaimed somebody's been in our room! Thankfully, nothing of value was taken because we had our credit cards and jewelry with us. We both immediately went to the front desk because this was not only unacceptable, it is unsafe and unsanitary. To know a complete stranger was given access to our room made me feel unsafe. What if we were in the room when this person/people entered? What if I was in the room alone? The gentleman at the front desk immediately moved us to another room, but stated he was the only one there and could not check the cameras to investigate what happened at the time. The next morning the woman at the front desk called our room to explain what she believed occurred. She alleged we left our door "ajar" or did not close it completely when we left the previous day. My boyfriend then asked them how she knew this. She said that they ran a report which showed the door did not lock. If this were true, why not notify us, or go and check the room to close the door since it had been left open for several hours? Of course we did not believe this and even tried to purposefully leave the door open to see if this was even possible, but as anyone who has ever stayed at a reputable hotel knows room doors are so heavy that they close on their own, EVERY time. To add insult to injury, the front desk attendant also said cameras showed that a man entered our room. She said he was inebriated and was able to get into our opened/unlocked room. She claimed he noticed that he was in the wrong room and immediately left. I do not believe this. First, who stays at a hotel and returns to their room without even attempting to try their room key? Further, who would just enter an unlocked hotel room, even if they're drunk? Also I do not believe this person left in a hurry. The fact that they placed their hat on the nightstand shows they were comfortable and likely at minimum sat on our bed. Additionally, with the presence of the pandemic, we don't know where this person has been or what they may/may not have. But even with out the pandemic THIS IS NOT SAFE!! If I was alone in the room when someone entered I would be horrified. So we are now in our 3rd room in 3 days. In this room the heat/AC works, but now we're super cautious and on alert. In this room the sink's water pressure was so low it was ridiculous, but instead of switching rooms again, we just toughed it out since we were leaving in less than 48 hours. In conclusion, I wanted everything to be perfect for a special birthday trip during what we all know to be an unprecedented year of unfortunate events, but this experience has overshadowed our memories of his birthday. We love the Aloft brand and will continue to patronize the Marriott brand, but I cannot in good faith recommend the Dallas Aloft hotel to anyone.
Great hipster hotel downtown
Attracted to the quirky look and free parking, and we were very satisfied with our choice! Free parking right out front, adequate downtown location, huge lobby to hang out in, and a nice gym we felt comfortable using. The facility is a converted warehouse building and the did a really cool job with the effort. Lots of extra space that gives it a very spacious feel, and the vibe overall is quite cool. Our room was neat, and spacious as well, with a wonderful shower that we very much enjoyed. Plenty of choices in the to go grab and go, but not very many healthy choices. Would definitely stay again!
