We booked and paid for a bigger room (2 queens and pull out couch) because we have 4 kids on our trip for a wedding.
Wanted to check in an hour earlier because we were passing thru and easier than at 10pm at night after a wedding. Were told on the phone that it would cost us $25 additional to check in early, so we declined. Checked in at 10 pm that night after the wedding to be told that just because we paid more for that room does not guarantee that we are in that room. They only had a king room with a pull out couch that would not accomodate 4 kids! The 2 ladies at the front desk were of no help, not even offering a dditional pillows or blankets.
When asked if any of the other Sonesta's in the area (there were three!) had any rooms to accomodate, they insisted that they just "thought" there was nothing available not even bothering to check.
Worst customer service and they didn't care at all! This is my first and last time I will ever stay at a Sonesta and I will tell all my friends to never stay here!!!
Drug deals, dirty halls, bad mgr, tv out, cold water

terrible place. if you like to pull up to drug deals going down then stay here. Ask management about it, its not there problem. Direct tv locks up and you cant watch tv. fights in the laundry room, management still does nothing. stains in hall ways, trash on floors, its just gross. here, and yes there are cock roaches.

Arrived into town quite late, needing a room to regenerate after a 5,000 mile road trip.
I stayed in a Queen Suite on the first floor, could not have been better! The room was huge, offering a kitchenette, a nice desk area that also is huge. And the bed... oh my - super comfortable, just right firmness and softness combined with the plush bedding linens, made for a magical night of sleep.
The gentleman who checked me in was very nice and helpful. He even offered a late checkout at 1:00pm, without my even asking. Now that’s attention to your customers needs. Bravo!

They Exceeded Our Expectations

We booked our stay at Candlewood Suites Dallas Park Central as a one night getaway to Dallas. We'd never stayed in a Suite type property before and weren't sure what to expect, but the pictures on the website looked nice, the overwhelming majority of the reviews were positive, and the price was actually below what I had budgeted for lodging, Check-in time is 3:00 pm. We arrived about 3:45 pm. Finding the entrance to the property can be tricky, but I was going by by memory after looking at a couple online maps before leaving home. If you have some sort of GPS device, you should have no problem. Upon pulling into the parking lot, we found many accessible parking spaces to choose from. The staff at the front desk were very welcoming and friendly. They got us checked in quickly, explained hotel policies, and told us how to get to the elevators. They also explained about the Candlewood Cupboard (an onsite, 'grab what you need, turn in a slip to the desk showing what you got, and have the price added to your bill' convenience store), laundry services, self-serve laundry area, meeting room, fitness center. We never used any of that so I won't talk about any of it in this review.
Once we got to our room we were surprised at how large it was. In most hotels, there's maybe two feet from the bed to the desk or or dresser or TV hutch or whatever. I didn't have a tape measure, but I'll say it was about 4 feet from the bed to the dresser/desk/entertainment center wall unit. The bathroom was twice the size of any budget hotel bathroom we've ever seen, and very clean, with soap and hair care products both on the counter AND in pump type dispensers mounted on the wall of the shower/tub. The kitchenette had cupboards, drawers, place settings for two, a four cup basket style, drip coffeemaker, a full sized refrigerator (14 or 16 cubic feet by my estimate), a dishwasher, two sauce pans, a frying pan, plastic cooking utensils (spoon, spatula, turning fork), paper towels, dish washing powder packets, etc. The kitchen and all of the dishes were clean and ready for use. At the desk portion of the wall unit there was an office type swivel chair. Next to the bed there was a vinyl upholstered recliner. The bed was a regular mattress with a foam pad on top. It wasn't the best mattress we've ever slept on in a hotel. It seemed slightly lumpy but there were no low spots.
After checking in, my wife took a nap, I watched some football on TV, then we headed out for our night on the town. Getting out and about from the hotel is a breeze. Greenville Ave takes you almost all the way downtown (but the sushi restaurant we were going to eat at was just a half-mile away on Forest Lane so we didn't go that far). Interstate 635 is the big east-west highway across north Dallas and is just a stones throw from the hotel. We could hear the traffic from our room but the TV (playing at a low enough volume so as not to interrupt my wife's nap) drowned it out. Traffic noise only rose above the TV level when motorcycles would go full throttle or when big rigs would use their jake-brake. US 75 is a major north-south freeway through Dallas, is located about a mile to the west. It WILL take you all the way downtown.
After our night on the town, my wife turned in early but I stayed up til 2:00 am watching golf re-runs on TV. I woke up on my own, without being disturbed and without the aid of an alarm, at 7:00 am and started making our breakfast of coffee, bacon, poached eggs, pancakes...and leftover sashimi fried in butter. After breakfast, we ran the dishwasher, put our dirty towels in the clothes basket provided, put our dishes back as we found them, packed up, and checked out. The staff at check-out were prompt, appreciative, and friendly.
The only negatives we found during our stay was 1) there were no dining chairs (my wife sat in the office chair and ate at the desk. I sat in the recliner), and 2) the spring-loaded tub stopper didn't work. I told her to push it down as far as it would go and wrap a plastic shopping bag around the part that stayed sticking up. She looked at me funny. I said it will form a seal but is too large to go into the drain resulting in a clog. She tried it, it worked, and she got to enjoy her hot bath. Now that I think about it, we forgot to mention that problem to staff at check-out. Ooops.
Despite those two negatives, we enjoyed an excellent stay. I'm a member of an organization that had discount agreements with a competing hotel company. That company discontinued the agreement for political reasons. As such, I've discontinued my brand loyalty to that company. I've tried a couple different brands since then. Our experience at Candlewood Suites Dallas Park Central has made Candlewood Suites my new go-to, first choice. I hope others in the destinations to which we travel can live up to the standard set here in Dallas.
