Avoid
Stayed here a couple of times before and experienced the same unfriendly attitude at checkin first. We arrived ad 14:20 I was told checkin would not be availble until 15:00.. I asked to have at least the formalities prepared before because we had a long day at work. I was told it's not possible.. With over 600 nights at marriott properties i know it is possible and pushed for it. I just paid for the room and left instantly. The recently opened holiday inn was so kind and offer me a early check in right away, as during these difficult times the hotels are obviously not fully booked. It took us less than 5 minutes to drive to new Hiex and the room was ready after another 5 minutes. That's the attitude which once made me a loyal Marriott guest. You wont find any of it at Moxy Darmstadt. I happily paid for another room at the HIEX because i feel welcomed there. The unfriendly moxy "talent" told me i would have to wait until 15:00. ( Despite confirming not beeing fully booked the night before ) On early stays we had problems with the air conditioning as well. On another stay i was charged multiple times for a one night stay and it took months to get it resolved. We had hope that the overall situation improved but i suggest to avoid to avoid this Marriott branded hotel. My company books over a hundred nights in Darmstadt area each year. Moxy Darmstadt will be no longer a choice for us.
Moxy Darmstadt - best business trip
The whole stay was just great! You feel directly welcomed, like at good friends home. The crew and their service made the stay perfect. In relation to the service and the quality the price was really good.
Know what to expect
I stayed 3 nights on business at this hotel as it was recommended by the firm I was visiting. Before writing this, I have done a bit of googling as I simply booked the recommendation and did NOT do any research beforehand. My bad. Firstly, this whole concept is aimed at "millennials" and I am not one! I was in town for work. I won't be going back or choosing Moxy anytime soon BUT it would be unfair to say that it was terrible. It is the first time that any hotel brand has made me feel out of place. For what it's worth here of some of the things I found: * the check-in was efficient albeit in the bar, * the lift was decorated with #Insta graffiti, which at 07.15 on a Tuesday was a bit incongruous with the 4 business travellers in it, * there wasn't enough seating for breakfast, people we perched eating on their laps, * the orange juice machine was the worst I have ever encountered, * the bathroom lights were automatic (no switches) and very bright, at 02.15, * I was OK with no phones and clocks in the rooms (I have never used them) BUT there wasn't a bin, so I couldn't dispose of any rubbish, * the temperature control didn't work and, * the "do not disturb" sign was obnoxious. * The food offering was poor (maybe fine for one night) but fortunately it was near the station and there were other options. The staff were great and there was under bed LED lighting that was pretty cool. So depending on what you are doing, how cool you are, how much time you expect to spend at the hotel and what your general satisfaction is with standard hotel offerings - this might be perfect for you.
Modern and stylish hotel
Excellent spot to chill, you can eat, drink and play some boardgames or cards! Loved the service and everything is delicious. Love the decoration. Definitely going back and taking my friends along with me.
Second livingroom
I really enjoyed my stay in Moxy Darmstadt. The bar is great, nice and young employees. A pleasure to watch the team working! Had a nice chat with Kira and Fabi, thank you for the nice tips and spots! The rooms are easy and have everything I needed. Beautiful bathrooms. I will come again!
