we can't stop coming back!

where to begin...we simply love just about everything about this place. if you want flash and glitz, this place is not for you. if you want a relatively quiet, understated, high quality
experience, head for the waldhuus davos.
manager linda staag oversees a friendly, competent staff with a light touch and common sense. the front office includes professionals such as sara gabriele, mr. norbert, and mr. marco, while the restaurant is fortunate to have ms. goreti and mr. tim at the helm. breakfast is a feast, while dinner is flexible and features regional specialties. the housekeeping staff is reliable, and is also managed by a very nice lady whose name we forgot. she is always genuinely cheerful and ready to help.
as we are a family of four, we truly love the suites on the top floor. to wit, we are going back for the fifth (or is it the sixth?) ten-day vacation in two years. yes, corona is part of it, as we live near zurich. but as of this writing, international travel is becoming possible again, yet we have still booked ten days at our favorite spot.
to top it all off, there is a wonderful kid's club housed in an attached building. it is run by the ever-patient and endlessly kind jane, who seems to never run out of creative, fun things for the kids to do and make. parents rejoice!
there is no cooking or cleaning to be done, the bucolic location is right at the edge of the woods, and across from the golf course. a free shuttle provides easy access to skiing and public transportation. prices are seasonally adjusted. there are quite a few families but also couples. one never feels overrun by noisy kids. hence, five stars!

Kinema in the woods

Passing by one of the former conference rooms, we noticed two rows of excited children being served popcorn as they waited for their evening entertainment. Such a sight took me back to my own childhood when special Saturday matinées showing cartoons for children were offered at the local cinema. What a treat that was and what a lovely idea the Waldhuus have introduced for families who are already so well looked after with the Globi club and swimming pool.
We really enjoyed this year's stay at the Waldhuus in Davos as it allowed us to have a change from our usual routine, which is, as we all know, fairly limited for everyone during the pandemic. This year we decided to stick to cross country skiing which is the perfect social distancing sport and the hotel is well located just across from the main trail area.
We would like to say how safe we felt in the competent hands of the hotel staff, who discreetly ensure that all runs according to the Covid 19 concepts. Whether at the front office, in the dining room or bar area, on the floors; all work as a team to ensure that the guests can enjoy a small escape from daily lockdown life. Thank you to Alfredo who remembered us from previous stays and is an example of the friendly staff and there are others too.
Not only is the chalet hotel an attractive looking building, but also inside it is spaciously designed. Our room was generous with a king-sized bed and bathroom included both a bath and separate shower.
We hope we can come back again soon with our grandson and let him enjoy the kinema in the woods. We are sure he will love it

We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 9 and 11) that stayed in a Swiss Chalet Style Junior Suite (38 sqm) for 2 nights for a skiing weekend in January 2021.
The room was nice as it had separate sleeping areas and the kids were on bunk beds (rather than a pull-out couch which is common in many hotels but doesn't lead to a good nights' sleep!). The kids reallly enjoyed the pool, and the saunas were nice (although I didn't use them). We went into the youth room although it was quite cold, as it's right beside the entrance to the garage. The finishings around the hotel are a bit dated, but that shouldn't affect the quality of your stay.
The buffet breakfast was the best we've had at any hotel in Switzerland, my kids loved having a fresh omellette made for them! Covid safety protocols are in place, we were very comfortable with how they are managing it while still making for a nice stay.
The ski room was convenient, and we used the shuttle bus service to go to both Jakobshorn and Parseen. It's a short drive, and everthing is close by.
Staff were generally helpful- but one stood out greatly and it was the shuttle bus driver, Matija, who was incredibly helpful and friendly. In our opinion, he's a great ambassador to the hotel.
Overall good value for the money and we would stay here again.

We are recurring guests and stayed for 3 nights this time.
The hotel is very well managed, rooms cozy and quiet, staff extremely friendly and helpful, food excellent what makes the stay to be always a pleasure. The hotel is very conscious about hygienic standards what is particularly important in the Covid times. The wellness area (saunas) is reasonable but faces capacity challenges over the weekend. This is understandable. Overall it was very nice stay and we‘ll be back for sure again.

The hotel is quite conveniently located not far from town. Welcome is nothing special and a tad long (why asking for guests information in advance if you have to refill a form at check in?). Our room was nicely equipped, with the expected amenities, and had a tiny terrace. The bathroom was a bit cramped though. There is a very nice little spa section with 2 saunas and a quite large rest area. A separate nice pool is also available clearly this is the best pet of the hotel. The bar was not staffed and we had to call someone and wait to have a drink at apéritive time. Breakfast is large but not exceptional in terms of quality. It’s also quite crowded for a buffet formula these days....
A large and convenient garage is available (for a fee). Altogether a nice stay but nothing terrific for a 4 stars rating. Price was relatively reasonable though.
