Hotel Landgoed Zonheuvel

I booked the room to attend a course in Doorn. The rooms are neat but compact, there was little room next to the large double bed. The shower/toilet 'wet cell' was speared from the room by a semi-transparent glass wall/door. After showering one would get wet feet going to the toilet. The amenities were basic. The breakfast buffet was ample and there was great coffee. The hotel is smack in the middle of nature and it was a lovely walk (several routes to choose from) in the forest around it,. One can rent a bike for 12 euro a day. Personnel is friendly.

This hotel is in a nice location to go for forest walks, to meet friends for dinner and relax. However, the hotel itself is in need of a facelift. It feels exactly like a hospital or institution with bare white hallways and cramped, plain rooms. It the place got a coat of a paint, hairdryers and a shelf in the shower it would be an improvement already. Beds are comfortable but there's no space to walk around it. The biggest problem was the other guests - a group of people slammed doors and hollered all night without consequences, keeping many guests awake all night.

We hired several rooms for a conference. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Lunch was good and surroundings are stunning. Definitely a recommendation. There are several rooms and a hotel (which we did not use).

We stayed here for three nights, and the staff looked after us very well. Our bedroom was quite cold, and we couldn't get the heating/air conditioning system to give us any warm air. The receptionist lent us an electric heater which was very welcome! For the first two nights, the food in the restaurant was excellent. Unfortunately on our last night, we were a little disappointed. We mentioned this to the waiter, who admitted that it was a different chef on our third night. He handled the situation very well - apologised and gave us a free drink each, saying that he would report our feelings. It was so well handled by the waiter that it did not spoil our stay. I enjoy walking, so it was great that this hotel is situated in a forest. Different walks (of different lengths) are highlighted by coloured posts and I thoroughly enjoyed three of these walks - even seeing a deer at close quarters.

We stayed here one night with the 2 of us as part of a 8 person party. Arriving around 15:00 we had some time to make a walk to the watch tower De Kaap 1,5km into the "Utrechtse Heuvelrug". Coming back we had a drink in the bar upstairs. Then a good tasty diner of just a main course. A shower and then a taxi to the party in Maarn. Coming back from the party at 02:00 we found a closed bar :) So, we had to go to sleep in the 2 person, rather modern, room. We slept like babies on the good beds, had a very nice shower, and went for the voluptuous breakfast. All in all a good stay.
