Great location. Unfriendly staff.

The rooms are nothing to write home about, but the hotel is convenient to all you can find in the lakeshore tourist district. Skip the included “breakfast,” it’s limp fruit & Otis Spunkmeyer muffins served by cranky staff. No daily housekeeping.
Great Experience at Canal Park

We debated back and forth about staying in the Canal Park area. It’s a bit difficult to get to with major road construction. And it’s expensive (probably the big determinant). We finally decided to stay in the Park our last night to be able to enjoy the water area. We were very pleasantly surprised at the Lodge. As the reviews say, they’ve tried to make it into a mountain lodge. And they’ve done well with the feel. The lobby and public areas have large wood beams, high ceilings, large furniture and nice open spaces. We have a nice room for chain-type place. It has some personality which chain properties often lack. It’s a largish room with King bed, two bed tables, nice sofa and coffee table, a writing desk and chair, a dresser, a coffee area with coffee maker. The room overlooked the water with a good view. And they've done a good job of being COVID-sensitive with their breakfast. It's served from behind plexiglass cafeteria style. Regular hotel breakfast fare. But a nice job of adapting to the virus. And a pretty good breakfast.
Rooms were not cleaned "because of covid"
Reviewed 10 september, 2021
We checked in for 3 nights, and did the usual Initial Here, Initial Here on the check- in form. We paid $199.00 a night not including the taxes. That night around 10:30pm were heard a loud gurgling noise in the wall between my bed and the bathroom. I called the front desk and she said it was probably because the room above us was running the shower or the tub. After about 45 minutes the noise stopped, then started up again for a short while. I was told she would tell the maintenance person about it in the morning. The following day we went out and returned to our room around 3pm and saw the room had not been cleaned. I called the front desk and was told they are not cleaning the rooms, replacing towels and other items because of covid. I was told I could get towels, cups, coffee, etc at the front desk. We went to the front desk and asked for towels, cups and coffee, and I told the person at the desk that we weren't aware of the no-clean policy. The manager heard us and pulled the sign-in sheet and put it in front of us, pointing to a set of initials. She asked if they were mine and I said they were. She rudely kept pointing at the initials saying that was where the policy was written. When we checked in all we were told was to initial regarding our vehicle and permission to charge the credit card on file. I asked her if anyone checked into the loud gurgling noise and she said she would let the maintenance person know (apparently she didn't because the noise was back that evening, though not as loud and for a shorter time). I told her I was told it was from the upstairs room running water and she said that was not possible. I asked what we should do with out dirty towels and she said to put them in the hallway. The following afternoon the towels were still on the floor, even though there was a linen cart 4 feet away, so we tossed the dirty towels in it. Along the hallway there were garbage bags that people had put out. Breakfast was to be eaten in the room overlooking the Lake, but I noticed after people left no one was sanitizing the tables, there was a tongs that was put out to toast bagels and that wasn't cleaned or sanitized after use. If the management is so concerned about covid I would think they would do a better job of sanitizing common areas. We paid $683 to stay in a room for 3 nights that had strange noises in the wall, no clean towels (unless we got them ourselves), no replenishing of coffee or cups and basically no service whatsoever. And no apology for the misunderstanding or the noise. We will not be back.

This is a very nice hotel. It was quiet, the staff were very nice and the location was perfect!! Our room was great and had a nice view of the lake. It was wonderful being able to walk everywhere. The only drawback is the continental breakfast. We understand with COVID things are not set up like normal. However, if waffles are being served, they should either be made fresh while the guest waits or if making them ahead, keep them in a warmer. Mine were cold and the butter was frozen. Everything else was very good. Would definitely stay here again.
Outstanding customer service

All the other reviews say it all! These guys really know how to do the dreaded motel breakfast! They have five to six servers behind plexiglass that dish up what you want cafeteria style and its actually pretty good, even that yellow stuff that comes out of a 5 gal pail and called scrambled eggs! There seating is somewhat limited and you may have to take your breakfast to your room. The rooms are clean, however, you can write your name on the bottom rungs of chairs. I believe this is due to the shortage of help since our government insists on paying people NOT to work! Also related to the staffing issue is that for a extended stay they will NOT clean your room daily. I have NO problem with this as we don't get fresh sheets or towels at home daily either.
