Consistently welcoming
Carol is an amazing host and I have had the opportunity to stay at Newagate a number of times whilst here in Barnard Castle. Rooms are spacious, well equipped and clean. Breakfast is superb and couldn't fault the personalised service.
Properly 5 star
A charmingly impressive and comfortable home offering a warm welcome that put us at ease from the moment we walked through the door. Attention to detail was impressive and Carole really looked after us. From recommendations for dinner to making sure we left fully fed, watered, & happy. Amazing value. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and seriously thinking about a return trip.
Really fabulous accommodation
We loved Newgate House! The photos do not do this venue justice, so our expectations were exceeded. There was so much care put into every single detail, for example, a fully charged blue tooth speaker in the bathroom and such a pretty kettle that looked like a teapot. For me, these seemingly little additions, make such a huge impression, and make me feel comfortable knowing that bigger things, like cleanliness, are well under control. Parking was super easy, directly outside Newgate House and the location was ideal. The breakfast was impeccable and made to order, with beautiful cutlery and crockery and a perfectly ironed and starched tablecloth. Just exquisite!
Fabulous B&B in a beautiful town, excellent!
The room was a huge double with extra single bed, a cosy sofa and all the usual extras, tea and coffee making facilities, widescreen tv, hairdryer, etc. Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and with free parking right outside. A short walk to town and all the delights Barnard Castle has to offer. Breakfast was delicious and the landlady Carole was exceptionally helpful.
Fantastic
Absolutely everything was wonderful at Newgate House! Great breakfast, spotless rooms, lovely hosts that provided fantastic, welcoming hospitality with a great knowledge of the local area. Catered for dietary requirements without any fuss whatsoever. Nothing was too much trouble, we felt thoroughly pampered during our stay and both had a fantastic night's sleep. Bikes were even stored securely and under cover for the night. I cannot recommend Newgate House highly enough and only wish we could have stayed longer.
